Default First look at 2018 Carbon 65's Ceramic Matrix Gray

Here are some pics of the 2018 Corvette Carbon Edition from the NCM. Luckily its nice outside which shows off the paint:

http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2017/...on-65-edition/

I would say the color is best described as off-white or eggshell in color with just a tinge of blue. Having seen it in the sun, there is some metallic in the paint and while it’s not a true matte color in the traditional sense, that’s probably the effect when viewed indoors or out of the direct sunlight.

Here it is next to an Arctic White Corvette Grand Sport for comparison.

That's an interesting color. Thanks for the shots next to silver and white! I think I'll have to see that one in person. It's kinda cool how it looks matte though.

less is more with these cars. Cleaner just looks so much better imo. They are busy enough as it is, especially the Z06 and Grand Sport.

Thanks for the pictures Keith! It is really interesting to see the difference between AW and the carbon edition. Not sure about the fender hashes, just not for me.

That looks worse than what I had envisioned it to be...not seeing how they call that 'Gray'. Not something on my bucket list.

I know color is a personal choice--I think I will like this in person. But then I've purchased 2 metallic off-white cars in the past. Not fond of the masking tape in the front, but that's optional (kidding).

I don't get how it's considered gray. Looks like a $399 Earl Scheib special to me.

Agreed. I was next to a widebody the same color as mine on the freeway this morning. I think it was a Z06. As it passed, I noticed it looked lower than my stingray. It was wide and low. With that stage 3 spoiler it looked like a straight up race car.

I might get some hate emanations my way but it kinda looked out of place on the street.

To me it looks like a color that wishes it was something else. It is neither here nor there.

Good grief! Chevy really needs to change whomever is in charge of Corvette colors.

Maybe they hired the guy in charge of "colors" for Mercedes:

I actually like the color. Not a fan of the decals at all. But then I am one of the rare ones that doesn't in general like the heritage stripes (as decals) and center stripe on the Grand Sport. They can look ok with in a few combinations but usually I prefer the cleaner car. I realize this is a personal preference.

A confused, odd color. Imho. And that graphic? Come one man. Another lost opportunity to do something cool like ghost a graphic on a true matte or satin finish.

or god forbid full exposed carbon hood, a pillars etc etc. Gonna charge that much make it worth while

Ill fitting to my username, I'm going to reserve "judgment". Good picture quality from what's provided here (thanks!), but sometimes the best view comes on a personal level. For example, Long Beach Red looks phenomenal once you actually see it; props to the LBR owners. I'll just say Ceramic Matrix it's okay for now.

I will say this: That Carbon 65 hash "whatever" on the front...not a fan, especially after the initial shock value of the release has now sunk in. If they were necessitated to add it, there was a better way to go about it from a designing perspective. I can see future owners of Ceramix Matrix (if it's sold w/o the Carbon 65 package) coming up with more creative customizations even from stock options.

Good grief, Charlie Brown! Is that the best the color folks at GM can do? I'll pass for sure. The Corvette deserves better than this. Oh well, there is always next year.
