Additionally, being in a radar arms race with governments is a fool's errand as they have far deeper pockets than do we and can afford to upgrade their systems with the latest and greatest technology using our tax dollars. In this radar arms race, not only do we need to keep up to date on the latest systems, but at some point will need to spend MORE to install advanced systems in our rides... A losing proposition IMO...
Speed limit plus 5 is cheap citation protection unless on the track or Highway 178 to Pahrump...

Most of the time interstate traffic in this part of the world only allows for short squirts of high speed hijinks before you are back behind the 18 wheeler or left lane bandit of your choice. It much more relaxing, and not much slower, to just set the cruise for +5 and watch the scenery. However, if you happen to be on a fun two lane, well then...............

As is Always the case, it depends. IMO it depends mostly on where you live and where you do most of your driving. If you're in a large metro area
or live where the government and high taxes (Calif/NY/etc) affords them the latest and greatest, it could be a fools errand to 'keep up'. More rural or
sparsely populated areas (us fly-over states) seldom have the resources for the latest/greatest, they usually rely on and live with -1 or -2 generation
equipment or state/large metro agency hand-me-downs. Somewhere out on the net there is a fairly detailed doco showing what most leo's use
broken down by state and city, but I can't find the link.
Ahough I do some driving in the DFW area, even here there aren't many Laser units in use (usually only a few per agency and mostly used
here around school zones). Almost all local PD use Ka band and a few K here and there. I don't DD my C7 often and most of my 'Spirited' driving
is done on rural backroads where the Ka - K bands are used almost exclusively, so I felt it was well worth the cost to run an RD and it
has paid off Numerous times!!
I run a RADENSO PRO-M and love it. It warns me a couple miles out when they are present without fail. It's small form factor was
a plus as well. Mounted to the right side of the cover right above the mirror it doesn't block any sight lines and I can hardly see it
in my peripheral view. That's the bottom of it you see under the mirror, the other object further over on the windshield is my camera.

My problem with the Blendmount is that it REALLY, blocks my sightline for right hands turns. It's bad enough with the fender hump and little windshield. Some other thoughts...
As for laser, I have never, ever, seen laser used anywhere other than on highways that have a long sightline. I've never seen it used on a twisty back road, or even in a city. It's always (from my observations) been on interstate type roads, or at least divided highways. Given that, if you aren't completely brain dead, you can always see them before they can lock on. I mean, if you can't see a vehicle on the side of the road a 1/4 mile down the road, you deserve the ticket. (and yes, that is provided it's daytime, and you aren't completely alone on the road being the ONLY target.)
Speeding at night (and by speeding I mean +9 over, less than 9 and no cops around here even look at you), or when you are the only car out, is ASKING to get pulled over. Use common sense.
In my state (Maryland) with a point system. 0-9 is 1 pt. 9-19 is two, and the LEO's almost always knock it down to 1. 19+ is 5 and starting to get into trouble. In Virginia over 80 is a reckless driving citation... So I don't go to Virginia often and when I do, it's less than 80...
And no, 140+ mph on a motorcycle will not necessarily get you arrested on the spot. It will get you a court date, a $500 fine, and 5 pts, unless the judge is a sweetheart and gives you a PBJ, (Probation before Judgment, pay the fine, no points, no conviction. PROMISE not to do it again...lol) Oh, wear a suit and tie, and say, yes or no, and thank you, YOUR HONOR... I was amazed at some of the stupid people that turn up to court in shorts, tank tops, basically looking like hell... I wonder why most of them got the points? lol....
Ok, I'm done...
