My wife wants to buy a Z06. I am thinking that we should probably wait and let the dust settle as far as the ZR1. Is it coming out next year? And if if is I am thinking that it may be worth the wait to have an upscale Z06 with maybe a 100 HP increase. What do you think? By the way I hope you all have a wife like mine! I digress a little here, but I don't really care how much it costs, and I assuming around $130K. But then again it will be the first year of that model and maybe some bugs to work out. We have a nice C7 currently and really enjoy it. (see signature). Would just like some feedback from you gals and guys. Maybe there is a no brainer here that I am missing. Thanks.

Well, I love and I mean LOVE my Z06. However, if you don't care how much it costs, to me, the clear choice would be waiting on a ZR1 at this point. I wouldn't be concerned with "first year" bugs.

That's just me though.

Depends on what you plan on doing with it. You can already get a Z06 with 100 more horsepower (Lingenfelter editions...720HP for 4k, 750HP for 11.8k, and 800HP for 18k) just depends on how much you want. Personally, I would not purchase a ZR1 as I would be required to remove that awful wing on the back. The ZR1 may not be as "upscale" on the inside as it is more of a track only car than the current Z and not too many people that track them require creature comforts that the cruise group likes to have in their cars. While the majority of those that purchase one will most likely never take it to a track, not sure how "daily drivable" they will be.

Instead of speculating on the ZR1 (there have been multiple wings filmed now, nobody knows which one will be offered) I would wait to buy a Z06.

Based on all the leaked data we have a 2018 ZR1 seems very likely to be on sale sometime between this summer and winter.

All of that said, I think you have to ask yourself if you would need more power/trackability? If this is going to be a street car for you then a Z06 is already overkill and you will never use the limits of that car on the street unless you far exceed the law

If you track a lot or want to have the bragging rights? Wait for the ZR1. If it was me, I would at least wait to see the specs of the ZR1.

Of course you could always do a Callaway Z06 now

If you can afford it, and even have the question in your mind as to which to get, wait to see what they present. If not, you'll always have the little "what if" voice in the back of your head. Good things come to those who wait...things with 800hp that go like hell.

Well, the announcement of the ZR1 very well may be tomorrow. Once things are announced, you may have a better idea as to what is going on there and how it may impact the model lineup and your choices.

As many have guessed, I'm not so enamored with the C7 Z06.

From what I have seen so far, the new "mystery" Vette looks to have fixed all the things(well at last some of them) that I don't like about the current Z06.

I'm in the boat with those that say wait and see what the "mystery" Vette really is.

Thanks for your feedback. And I just like to have a lot of horses. Not for bragging rights and that sort of thing. Let's say I just like the feel of it. One could say that the wife and I are addicted to horsepower. We have a lot of opportunities to wide open throttle and the more power the better from our standpoint. The thrill, if you will. I will participate in drag racing and we do a lot of trips. To give you an idea, we have had our current car 17 months and have over 30,000 miles on it. We enjoy it, and can't get enough of it.

I like the new front end look of the ZR1, to me that's the biggest visual change so far (underneath all the camouflage).

Well Joe, since it looks like you have decided to wait for a ZR1 I've gotta ask. Does your dearest wife have a sister?

You know me well, and the nannies will always be on. Unless I want to experiment a little.
But what a way to go!

The price differences between a ZR1 and Z06 are going to be huge.
