Default 2018 Production

Yes they are building 2018s commencing the week of June 5th and I found out Wednesday I am at 3000 with a build week 6/5. I did order the new matrix white but a non carbon edition Convertible.....
By the way 3 items-- I am not a person who buys special editions but I was almost swayed on this one ... It's all personal taste and I think the new matrix whatever will be a HIT.. Non special edition or not..
The Bash again and as usual WAS GREAT- and I echo the sentiments expressed in a prior post about ALL THE GREAT PEOPLE you see and meet..my one problem is it goes TO FAST...
Finally noticed a lot more Younger Faces in the crowd which has got to be a Major Concern still for GM..... Harvey
PS Do not fence sit thinking about waiting on the new paint shop to be fully operational-- got the strong feeling it will not be 100% till the 2019s arrive. Also expect to see some great deals on 2018s because of the fence sitters...
PPS: still like the word and intend to keep using the word IRREGARDLESS..

I'm confused. I thought the plant was closing in June for several months.

If I remember correctly the closure begins in July. Regardless, 2018 production will begin before the closure.

Harvey - I saw you several times including this morning but couldn't catch up to say hello. Hope all is well.

Why do you think that even after the new paint shop is live it won't make a difference until 2019????......onve it's on line in 2018 why would it be better on 2019?

I sought of misspoke about the new paint shop -- it will be a big difference but from what I gather you the Buyer will not know if your vette has paint from the old shop or new shop until the new paint shop is fully operational. Plant manager said there will be no guarantees until the 2019s hit the line. They are also phasing the colors in from the new paint shop with White and Yellow The first.
Somebody also asked me when my order was placed 4/23 .... Harvey

My understanding is that they will build the 2018 models for two months(June & July 2017), THEN close the plant down for around three months(Aug, Sept, Oct, 2017), and THEN resume 2018 model production.

That's too bad it is going to take so long for the new paint shop to fully come online. I have to wonder if they are starting with white and yellow, because those colors don't show orange peel as much.

white and Yellow both use white as a base coat. That is why those colors were chosen

Default a permanent place in the Vette panthion

I regard Harvey as a bellweather member of this club/site. It is hard to think of this site without his rich history and inputs....

I think this site might do him and itself justice and interview the gent for the cover page of this site......

Appreciate all the kind thoughts from all my Corvette Friends. I am getting a ZO6 Convertible. Why I do not know - guess I need that extra HP when I get up for 40MPH.

Thanks, Harvey.

Do you know what exactly is going to be improved with the new paint shop? I haven't heard any specifics yet.

There is a lot more going on than just bringing the new paint shop on line.
