I have a 2017 grand sport I just checked my oil I have 1700 miles on the car and I'm down to A half a quart I noticed that my two outer tail pipes are blackish compared to my two middle ones. Anything to be concerned about is it still breaking in. Thanks for your input

I think you might have meant "down A half a quart." If you were down TO half a quart you wouldn't have an engine left.

Did you follow the special procedure to check the oil on these dry sump systems (Z51, GS, Z06)? Very important to follow it...
the black on your outer pipes means you have "tested" the throttle. Pull that 42 fuse and it will increase. I figure if the 10qt capacityis down 1/2 of one, I'm not worried.
I've consumed 1.5 liters of oil over the last year since my 500mi change. Everything I've read, and I spoke to a Corvette tech, is this is within normal parameters. I'm hoping it goes down now that she's broken in.
As others have noted the black pipes are normal and GDI (gas direct injected) engines are well known for creating this particulate matter to the extent that the EU is making noises about requiring exhaust filters like those used with diesel engines to catch the particulate matter. I leave my 2016 Z06 exhaust set to track mode most of the time so the outer pipes get the particulate buildup very quickly after cleaning. My 2008 Cadillac CTS with the 3.6L direct injection engine had this buildup as does my 2014 ATS with the same 3.6 engine.
If you haven't had the 500 mile oil change do it right away; during initial break-in some of the seals in the engine outgas contaminants which break down the anti-foaming properties of the oil and will cause foaming and excessive oil in the intake when operated at high RPM. Some oil usage during break-in is normal but track it carefully after this next oil change. My Z06 had its first change at just under 500 miles where it was still almost exactly where it was when it left the museum and the next change at 4,000 before it went into winter storage where it was down maybe 1/8" from where it was after the second change. Make sure to use a dealer that understands the change procedure for the dry sump engine and just to be sure check it BEFORE you leave the dealer. My dealer checks it with the customer after the change which also allows them to make sure the customer understands the process for checking oil level in this dry sump engine.
It would be nice if Chevrolet emphasized that point as much as they do trying to convince people that the memory seats really do work (which of course they don't) as oil is much more important
