Consumer reports rates the OEM tire #1, so I decided to replace mine with the OEM Michelin.

I only have 1300 miles on my car, so I hope I won't be buying tires for a long, long time. From what I have heard from other Corvette owners, I should expect about 15,000 miles out of the first set (19" rear & 18" front -- Stingray without the Z51 package).

One of the tough things is that the tires are unidirectional and are different sizes -- thus meaning they cannot be rotated the way it is with more "typical" cars.

Well they are not unidirectional and can be rotated left to right and right to left, but not front to back or back to front because of the size difference. They do have a outside and inside that should be noted for proper mounting.

The stock tires absolutely can be rotated and per your owners manual, should be. Obviously, due to front and back being different sizes, front left and right rotated as a pair and the same for the rears.

The OEM tires are my recommendation. Very good tire for the money.

How can you rotate an asymmetrical tread without dismounting & remounting the tire? Wouldn't the tread be "backwards" if you didn't?

You would have to dismount and remount to flip them around.

I just replaced my OEM runflats with the same tires on my Z51 - with alignment came out to just under $1600 out the door. A little painful but I did get 29,000 miles out of the first set.

Yes a bit unusual I think because I do 80 miles a day commute on the freeway, in traffic, so not much spirited driving possible (or tire wear) there! LOL
