Obama called and he wants his snide "joke" back. An ignoramus who can't afford them says this kind of garbage.

Post 134. Anyone that thinks the black wheels on this car look better than the chrome needs their eyes/head examined.

A couple of points to make that seems some posters are not aware of. One: you have to pay extra for black wheels just like you do for chrome wheels. Two: black wheels are harder to keep clean. Don't think so? You ever have a black car and a silver one? Three: Chrome is applied over a base metal because it's harder than the base metal and presents a smoother surface in order to protect the base metal from corrosion. Wheels, bumpers and trim use a decorative chrome which all will shine. I for one really think whatever you like is your business. But when people start slamming each other over geezer & other dumass remarks it's not what this forum is for.

Just keeping it stock In the showrooms, the tires on the chrome wheels were slicked up but the black ones weren't. Don't want to ruin it with day two mods

Same old, Same old. Ask yourself if they would still be making Corvettes if they didn't make Coupes and Verts, Auto's and Sticks, Chrome and Black, Base and on up. The market has spoken and if you like Corvettes you better accept that a Corvette is a Corvette no matter what differences, and how many they sell IS Important to keeping the Brand Alive no matter if you like or don't like it, and at reasonable price points.

And those that are driving a Stick, are they not back in the 60's too. Good feeling for some, maybe not for others. My first Vette was a 1960 and had more fun with it than I can tell. My C6 is still miles beyond the '60 for me.

I bought mine so I could enjoy it my way. Hope you did too for as long as it lasts.

Chrome makes car not look like a serious sports car. Black wheels shows no detail. Silver painted or aluminum looks functional and still adds to the style of the car. Loved the factory gray wheels on my 2004 Z06 and stayed with painted wheels on the Stingray.

Well when you've been around here long enough you find that every once in a while there is someone who really doesn't know the answer and is simply asking why "the thing about chrome wheels" and so this being the fantastic informative place that it has always been and has help so many of us over the years... the honest question... deserves a straightforward honest answer.

Some of us really think that it looks better that way. The bit of "flash" that it adds improves the overall look of the car

Looks good, painted silver is always a tasteful, classy choice. The day is coming when we are free from chrome wheels on the order form, have faith ! Notice how many different choices there are other than chrome. The day is coming...only then we will be free !
Why is it that virtually zero, zeee-ro performance car companies offer chrome wheels? Lotta out out of touch guys here ....sorry.
Free of chrome !! Free of chrome !!! Thank God almighty we are free of chrome !!

I love the fact that the Corvette (and many other cars) can look so different in different colors and wheel choices. It's great we all have choices to customize the car the way we want.

I have a LRG with chrome wheels. I love the combination, but I'm not as swayed when I see the green with black wheels. The difference in wheel color totally changes the look and appeal for me. So, I understand when others don't think my chrome is as attractive to them.

Just because we each prefer something different, doesn't make the other person's preference wrong. It's just different.

Uhm, Corvettes come with them. Are Corvettes not performance cars?

I just went to the Lambo build-your-own site and I see they offer them as well - so does Ferrari. Though the Ferrari ones look like silver painted.
