I don't want to jack someone else's thread, but what is it with chrome wheels?
I mean really, 1960 called and it want's its wheels back. Nothing says geezer owns it, more than having chrome wheels.
Just had to rant.
Or you could be 60+ years old such as yourself and start a childish post. Or perhaps roll with the black wheels and think others still will not think you are a geezer in a Vette.
Yes, I'm 60 years old. So what? I've got an Italian sportbike, a Japanese Supersport Touring bike, a M3, and a pickup. What's your point? Just because I'm 60 doesn't mean I'm geezing into the grave yet...lol
Besides, chrome is heavy, and it's makes the metal more brittle.
You are of course free to do what you want and like... I guess I just don't understand the why part of it?

Duh, is it possible that people get chrome wheels because they like the way it looks. Should they get something they do not like because it would be more "hip" in other folks eyes?
I don't think the chrome wheels on today's vettes look anything like the cragers on the 1960's muscle cars. Black wheels look good on certain color combinations and certain cars. On other cars they look like dark voids and do nothing for the car overall or make it look like you are running on a set of spare tires. But that's why there is chocolate and vanilla. A flavor for every taste.
I agree with those that state it is a personal choice, buy whatever makes you happy, it's your money!
A simple question, what if the cost for Chrome and Black wheels were reversed, Black wheels were now a $2K adder, and chrome was $500.00.
How many would still choose to purchase Black vs. Chrome wheels?
The ultimate geezer mobile is a Long Beach Red A8 with Kalahari over chrome wheels. Eggplant is a close second. Might as well be driving a coffin with chrome handles.
Whatever makes you happy because it's your choice. But then the "geezer" comments come out usually from some snot that doesn't realize one day he'll be a geezer too. But as I normally ask people that give me s#*t about my chrome wheels I just ask them, "What did the chrome fall off your wheels?"
