Besides, chrome is heavy, and it's makes the metal more brittle.
You are of course free to do what you want and like... I guess I just don't understand the why part of it?
I always LOVE these threads where someone feels they have the ultimate answer to automotive taste and everyone else's opinion is wrong....
It reminds me of a thread a few months back that said ALL convertible drivers are gold chain wearing idiots with no exceptions. One size fits all with no gray area for personal taste.
Also, how does it makes the metal more brittle? As a metallurgist, I am puzzled by this one. This is a non-diffused plating and generally has zero effect on the grain structure or chemistry. But then again I have chrome wheels and lack your insightfulness and only have a Masters degree and a Professional Engineers license.
Enjoy your non-chrome wheels and gloat that you have better taste than the rest of us that like the look. That's the "why" you are looking for.
The ultimate geezer mobile is a Long Beach Red A8 with Kalahari over chrome wheels. Eggplant is a close second. Might as well be driving a coffin with chrome handles.
Whew!! I would love to hear how that one was arrived at.

For me. it's all about the main color of the car and the accent colors. My car is blue and black so black blends in fine in my opinion. If I had selected either red, black, white or silver, I probably would have gone with chrome or silver wheels. Like I have said in other threads, my car has black wheels, truck has chrome, and SUV has silver.

I like the look of chrome wheels and always have. It's just my preference for most wheels, but I do like a painted wheel depending on the color. Definitely not a fan of all black wheels.
This thread is so lame. So much hostility towards geezers and chrome wheel lovers. Who gives a flying F about what someone else likes on their vette or how old they are. We all love our vettes in different ways, with different colors, different bodies, different wheels. We need to act like the adults we are. This is so childish, so disappointing.
