Don't know if you already own a Z06 but if you do you can answer MY question....What's the FUN PER MILES??? I really think people don't buy a Z06 and worry about the MPG. After all, there is a GAS GUZZLER TAX on it. I have friends that own them and they are averaging 15 MPG to answer your question.

It is a depends. Are you going to use Eco Mode if you are driving an M7? Are you going to put the Aero in its less intrusive setup? For Z07s that means replacing the front Stage 3 end caps with the Stage 2 end caps and removing the center wicker bill from the rear spoiler. I know removing the center wicker bill is good for 1 mpg at 70 mph. I also found out that Eco mode works better at 70 mph if you use 6th gear Vs 7th. In 7th any slight drag will throw the system back into V8 mode in 6th it takes more than the normal highway dips and dives to force V8 mode. The increased use of V4 mode more than offsets the increased rpm due to running in 6th.

Around town you need to get into the higher gears ASAP and with all of the low rpm torque available in the Z06 you can easily drive an M7 around town in 4th and 5th gears in the 30 mph range. Even just loafing the engine off the traffic light you will quickly find that you will still be faster leaving the light than almost all the other cars. Also make extensive use of cruise control while driving around town. That keeps you from varying speed and pumping the pedal up and down too much which wastes gas. Just because somebody 4 car lengths in front of you in the next lane starts to slow down doesn't mean you need to. You need to pay more attention to understand why they are doing what they are doing but the car will react quickly if you need to make an adjustment. The vast majority of times they are brake tapping for no reason at all.

Mixed 50/50 city/hwy - I get 18-19 during aggressive driving and 19-21 during normal commute. Calculated as follows: Fill tank, drive in one of the manners listed below, refill tank, divide miles driven but gallons to refill (same station, same pump, same time of day/temp).

If I drive slow and steady, never punching it for a tank, I get 19-20 (19.5)
If I drive like I want, but not crazy, I get 18-19 (18.5)

IMHO, driving conservatively is not worth the 1mpg savings.

A8, 2016. Stage 2 rear spoiler/wing

EDIT: Fuelly.com as a good amount of data on this for various cars and driving mixtures.

It appears that my A8 2016 might get 22 mpg with 100% hwy driving and a tailwind.

I drove it 300 miles from NH to NJ (it just got delivered to dealer), I was breaking the car in so didn't go above 4K rpm but was playing with paddles to let it stay in gear longer and was getting it up to some higher speeds too and got off a couple times to do some back roads. I averaged 20.1 MPG doing what I described for 300 miles.

The gas guzzler tax is on auto only.
The Z06 does pretty well on MPG as long as you keep your foot off of the floorboard.

If you are lucky, 3 full sessions on the track = 16 to 17 gallons (your numbers may vary pending on how long you hold your foot down entering corners). ....I tend to lift just before seeing God

My 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets 15 to 16. Why would I care what mileage a 650 HP Z06 gets?

I drive mostly 2 lane roads with a couple stop signs in small towns and get about 25 mpg., best 50 mi. average is 30.9. Occasional WOT to pass another car but mostly 55-65 mph., 2017 Z06 M7. My '09 base vette got about 27 mpg

You do WOT to pass a car?
Half throttle is more than sufficient to blow by anything not racing you

Disclaimer: I live in an area where I do very little stop and go driving with mostly interstate and "fun" 2 lane rural highways with very little traffic and high "effective" speed limits. My average is currently sitting at 23.7 with a 400 mile best of 25.1. Last year a long trip to TN/NC with a lot of mountain driving including the Tail of the Dragon twice returned 24.6 overall but 1,200 of the 1,600 miles was on the interstate running 77-82 MPH.

Mine is an A8 Z06 that is NEVER in 4 cylinder mode. I don't want the torque converter issues that go with a very meager fuel savings. The A8 is actually rated 1 MPG higher on the highway than the M7, the difference is in city mileage from stop and go driving. I guess the A8 needs a "skip shift" 1 to 4 also

I never run anything but 93 octane in mine, I believe 91 is more acceptable for the naturally aspirated 6.2 so factor that and probably a small insurance increase into your operating costs calculation.

The best mileage I have seen with my Z06 was the 450 mile trip back from the museum where I stayed mostly on 2 lane rural roads to vary the speed without creating a hindrance to other traffic. When I got home to IL it was up to 25.3 MPG on the monitor.

Probably, but the passing zones are usually short on the roads I travel and WOT in 3rd (I don't usually red line it) is more fun than half throttle and the fun factor is why I bought the car

I don't know, hard for me to believe the Z06 gets better mileage than the GS. Maybe its the way I drive.

H.V. checking in,

I would hold off on the ZO6 right now until the issues with heat soaking are sorted.
