at what time are most of the owners of convertibles treating their tops? When new, 3 months, 6 months, or never treat the top. I cant remember when I did the tops on my C-4s. I believe it was a product called RAGG TOPP or something like that. I dont know maybe the C-7s dont need anything.
I do almost nothing so far beyond a little soap here and there. Mostly hose it off and take a large lint roller to it. I don't open when wet and keep it closed when not in use. 2 years later and it looks just like it did new.
I treated on purchase and will update when it no longer beads. Based on my last car it c6 a treatment lasts > 2 years. My cars are garaged and to some extent garage queens ymmv. I also used 3m product this time instead of raggtopp
Ragg Topp is the product I have been using. I never needed to treat my 2014 convertible top. I traded that car for a 2017, took delivery December nineth so I don't expect it to need anything immediately. I normally just use water and a sponge to keep the top looking good, the sponge doesn't leave any lint. Actually being out in the rain will clean the top's weave better than just normal cleaning. My convertible tops have always been black in color.

I used Raggtopp on my C5 and wasn't impressed. It didn't appear to make any appreciable difference. Not sure if I'm going to do anything to the top on the C7 at al..

Same Here, had mine 2 years so far and garaged no issues. My wife's 2013 Audi A5 is her DD and when we wash it we just soap down and rinse the top and it still looks like new.

I did my C4 that was almost twenty years old, purchased used with only six thousand miles. The top looked good but was lacking luster, when I soaped that top the black water just flowed over the white body, couldn't believe how dirty the top was. After the top dried I treated it, the top now looked virtually new.
I don't think that top was ever cleaned/treated. Definitely made a difference.

RAGG TOPP on my 2106 Stingray Z51 convertible. Frankly, the tops are already treated from OEM.

Something is not right with your experience. I have used Raggtopp on 2 Corvette convertibles. Both times, water beads and rolls off. No issues at all.
Mine stays in a garage when not being driven, so I just use soap and water to clean the dirt. Compared to yesteryear, the convertible tops today will last longer than me.

I am lucky that the top stays really clean. I have covered parking at work and a garage at home. So my approach is to never get soap on the top, and just rinse it with water when I am cleaning the car. I have taken this approach for years and my tops have stayed like new. If I needed to clean and treat, seems like RaggTopp is the way to go.
I have used both Raggtop and 303 on my convertibles (5 so far). I found that 303 beads better and seems to last longer, FWIW. I do my top once a year at the start of summer. That's probably more than it needs but it's certainly not hurting anything.
