Default 2017 Grand Sport dyno numbers

Power mods are

-kooks 2" long tubes and cat delete

-halltech cold air

-katech 103mm tb

-msd atomic intake manifold

i was told by the shop that their dyno reads a little lower than a dynojet. Unfortunatley i dont have a baseline dyno.

You're right. Except for the wider tires & wheels, aero bits, flared fenders, bigger brakes, standard magnetic ride control, and different springs and sway bars, a Grand Sport is exactly like a Z51.

I haven't seen many GS numbers posted. Does anyone have base line numbers?

How much different does it feel seat of the pants?
Is it M7 or A8?

I am casting no aspersions, and ask this question with all due respect: With several thousand $$ in mods and tuning, you are getting less than a 2% improvement in torque and HP over the factory numbers?

Factory numbers are not at the rear wheels. Rear wheel is probably around 420 to 440. That's why we would like to know base line. So he may have a 40 hp increase.

The OPs numbers are at the wheels. The factory numbers are at the crank I believe. So the factory wheel numbers will probably be about 15% less (give or take)

Its an m7 car, and it feels pretty gnarly when compared to before(stock). You really feel the differance in gears 1-3, car pulls hard.

i was told by vette doctors that stock on their dyno is around 410-425 so i gained about 50whp. If we go by crank hp, 474whp is about 550 at the crank if you calculate for 15% drive train loss. Thats 90 crank hp increase over stock.

Compared to stock the car is completely differant, its pretty damn nutty, i'll try to get some video of driving cuz the sound is unbelievable.

I thought all manufacturers have had to report SAE net since the mid 70s?

SAE net hp is still taken at the crank, but the difference is the engine is tested with stock intake, exhaust, accessories, etc. installed.

Edit: Post Below by dmhines is Right---My BAD! I need new glasses or something.
Am I missing something---this is a Grand Sport with a modified LT1 right? Stock, the engine is 460 chp, crank. And you're saying rwhp is 420-440 rwhp.

With tune, headers, manifold, and TB it's making a "little lower than a dynojet" at 688 rwhp? ARe you saying those mods put in somewhere around a max of 268 rwhp?

Hey OP, nice numbers. Assuming 15% loss for a manual, translates to 545 hp/548 tq. - right in between stock and a Z06. And right where a stock GS really should be - hope Chev takes the hint. Very nicely done.

Your local chevy dealer, and therefore you, are sorely misinformed. I'll not spend the time here to elaborate, but google, Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend, etc. are your friends.

We purchased a '15 Z51, and now have a '17 GS. Although they both share the same engine/trans, they are very different in many ways. Really like both cars (and all vettes), but for different reasons. C7s rock!
