Is the Corvette community getting younger?
I can't help notice allot more younger folks are driving around in vettes these days. GM must be thrilled.

no, we're just getting older.

I'm 45 and just bought my first Vette. Have seen about 15 various gen Vettes on the road recently and I am probably the youngest driver...
But I can't tell you how many people of various ages have stopped me to ask about it. So it appeals to all generations.

When I was younger, none of the corvettes appealed to me. The C7 changed all that.

Ditto. I mean I liked them (esapcially the C6 Z06 and ZR1) but always thought I would buy a Porsche over a Vette. Drove everything under the sun and the C7 blew me away. Zero regrets!

I'm 46 and got mine 2 years ago. At Corvette functions/meets I'm generally the youngest owner, although I saw an owner at a recent car show with a '99 C5 that was maybe 25ish.

Probably seeing some 2nd Generation & 3rd Generation folks take over some older Vette's from parents & grands and some upgrade to newer models.
Prices now are well within reach of many young professional folks.

I sure hope the owners are getting younger....if not, Corvettes will not make it past the Baby Boomer Generation.

That said insurance and gas cost can be detrimental to other drivers who daily drive one car all year.

47 and my 17 GS is my first vette.
Had lots of Camaros and still have 13 ZL1 that I bought instead of a vette. At the time it was more bang for the buck, but it did cost as much as a vette.

I always loved Corvettes since I was a kid, so I must have bucked the trend as I'm 47 now and on my 3rd Corvette.
1st one was when I 30 (yes, 30) - it was a 2001 C5 which I ordered in the summer of 2000 and took NCM delivery of on Nov 11, 2000. The C6 didn't really "move" me so I waited till the C7 came out and got a 2015 C7 in Nov of 2014. Last summer I traded in the C7 for my 2016 Z06.
IMHO... I think vettes probably appeal (or are appreciated) to most people/generations, but I think the C7's design has really had the greatest "appeal" to the younger folks

Despite the fact that we're all getting older the answer to the Q is YES.

I also think that a push for more HP has something to do with it. Just 10-15 yrs ago, the trendy cars for 20-30yr olds were Honda Civics, RX 7's with 8in round exhaust tips making 105hp total. Now you see more appeal for muscle cars, exotics etc. We are going in the right direction!

I'm 40.. I've always liked Corvettes, especially the C5 onwards.. but I could never get over the interior.. until the C7. Finally convinced me...

Put me in the mix as well. I am 41 and purchased my first Corvette within the last month (2017 Z06). Last Corvette I sat in was a 1995 (and this happened in 1997) so it hasnt been a car I was really "into" until the C7.
I always knew the Corvette was a capable car, but the overall cheapness of them had traditionally kept me away. The C7 is the first interior and general build quality standard I personally consider be reasonably expected from GM. Yeah, there are still some things I think they could do better, but as I said... Its acceptable as is. I think for GM to continue the lure to younger buyers, they need to go mid-engine as thats how the performance and "cool" market is going.
If I had to predict the future, I think GM should keep a current style front engine for the "older" crowd and perhaps make it into more of a GT car. Offer the mid-engine Zora for those that want the "current fad" stuff of mid-engine or hybrid power trains, etc.
EDIT: One last thing. Every Corvette I have seen driving except one has been someone I would consider "elderly" driving it. I dont personally have anything wrong with that fact, but I did have to overcome this with my wife when looking at the car. I seriously had to force her to drive it, sit in it, etc., as she thought of the Corvette as an old persons car. Sadly, this perception is the case with pretty much everyone I talk to my age or younger..
