I have a decent amount of Dyna Mat Extreme left over from a 33 ****** street rod project I did. Any thoughts on if it's worth pulling the seats & carpet (in particular the cargo area carpet) on an 18 Z06 I have ordered, in an effort to cut down tire noise on Illinois highways. I know it will add weight, but the Z will have more power than I either need or have the ability to use, so this isn't an issue.
I did from behind the seats to the rear of the hatch with Second Skin and I noticed a definite improvement. It used to sound like sounds would echo throughout the car, but it doesn't any longer. That, plus A/S tires, and I can actually have a conversation in the car without yelling over road noise.
I added sound proofing under the carpet behind the seats but for the hatch areas I bought BlockIt "Quick & Quiet" drop in deadening mat. It helped a lot!
That said, the biggest thing you can do to reduce cabin noise is to add sound deadening material under the rear wheel wells but it's a PITA to pull out all the interior rear trim in order to add the material.
I did the bulkhead back and it really helps. I wired in a sub, ambient lighting and a microphone too, so I killed a few birds with one stone when I had it apart. Definitely worth the effort in my book!

I'm sure it is a PITA, but I think worth the effort. The time to start is when the first snow falls here in the Midwest.
