I am having my AR seat covers replaced due to color wiping off when cleaning with a damp cloth. Has this been a problem for others....I know search, but that is not the best way to get real answers...
thanks for any input.
you would think but just a microfiber towel and water. Repeated it at the dealer and the service adviser wasn't surprised. Both seats off of the bolsters. And to top that off my dash went dark last night, just after I got home from the dealer. Only thing that works now is the screen. Not a single light, no instrument panel, no steering wheel controls...hoping it is just a fuse. At least I still have the HUD.
Car is 27 months and had 35,500 miles on it...happy it is still under warranty.
If the color is rubbing off the bolsters and nowhere else it sounds more like entry/exit abrasion issues rather than from cleaning with a damp cloth...but whatever, if they're willing to replace the seat covers go for it!
Color should not be rubbing off since the seats are coated. Unless there was a batch at the factory that were defective. Easy test is a few drops of water on the seat. If the water is absorbed there is no coating.
I have color coming off in several places. I thought at first it was just the bolsters but with a damp cloth I can rub the backs and center area where it is real leather and coated and get a pink cloth instead of the white one I started with.
I am wondering if the coating that is put on the material is not UV resistant. The car is 27 months old and is my daily driver so it gets a bunch of Texas sun daily, no garage at work so it is in the sun all day. What ever the problem it sucks....
