Cruising down a semi rural road no traffic at night and bang soemthing hit my windsield. Now I have a big chip with 2 cracks radiating out about a third of an inch each direction. Anyone ever try the windshield repair services for something like this? Good results?
The repair guys have told me if you can cover it with a dime
they can repair it.
Nevertheless, if it is in the line of sight.....I would myself replace it
as it would drive me nuts to look at it (never done one that is not somewhat
visible).
I used the repair service that advertises on TV..Safe..... They replaced my windshield one day after I called them. Very professional job and no cost to customer in Florida. State law.

It depends on what you mean by "good results." They fill in the crack with some sort of filler which is supposed to prevent it from getting worse. It will cosmetically look better, but in no way does it make it go away completely. You will still notice some of it.
Again, the purpose of the repair is not to cosmetically make it brand new, it is simply to prevent it from cracking any further.
The repair is (usually) covered by your insurance with no affect on your premiums or deductible.
I've used them about 3 or 4 times on different cars. My wife ignored her rock chip and then it spread and she had to replace the entire windshield.

Thanks for the input I have a 1000 deductible and luckily chip is very low passenger side, If it wuld stop it from spreading Id b good with that.
I recently had a small rock chip on the passenger side of the windshield. A crack ran about 1/4" on each side of the impact area. I called a mobile repair and he came to my house. He said he could make it 80% better and it is difficult to see the repair area. I am very satisfied.

I would agree. Try the repair first, replace later if needed. Your insurance should cover the entire repair cost. (Of course. The company would rather do that than pay for a new windshield.)
The real reason to first repair rather than replace is to avoid possible problems in the installation of a new windshield. This is unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility.
