same thing happenned to me too. was that an OEM wheel or aftermarket wheel? mine was not OEM

I have seen big potholes hit at relatively high speeds shatter alloy wheels like that. A steel wheel would be badly bent.
In the old days of high profile tires, it would be a blowout, but low profile tires have introduced this danger.

Definitely a hard hit....
Thats a C7.
The flat (vertical) edge on the fender and the big curved slot for the side marker light are the tells for the generation.
