Front plates are required in NY. Where I live in upstate, central NY, I have been running without the plate on my Vettes for 8 years now. I have never been stopped or challenged in any way. I think LEOs have bigger fish to fry.

Same here...no one really bothers me ..luckily never even been stopped or even questioned about no plate when entering Canada or returning into the U.S at Customs .

Feds don't care as it is purely a matter of state and local law enforcement priorities. As we've seen it varies even within states, but some states are strict border-to-border.

Yesterday I went to Houston Auto Show(new cars), while walking the parking lot just amazing how many high end cars don't run a front plate. Seems in the big city the cops do have "bigger fish to fry" while in smaller counties they jump on you. Also so many new cars don't really provide a place for front plate.

The Ford GT was beautiful and had no place for license and would look terrible with one! lol

I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the vast majority of high-end cars don't get driven very much, thus much less exposure. That includes many Corvette owners only out on sunny, weekend days. Thus, it's not too surprising to hear the many, "I've never had a problem" reports.

I don't expect to ever see a Ford GT on the street, but we have many high-end cars in this area, and because front plate enforcement is so strict in the DC metro area, I almost never see any vehicle without a front plate, including Ferraris, Lambos, and the like.

On the I-35 issue, I saw a news report recently that it is perhaps the major drug pipeline into the US from Mexico. Not running a front plate provides probable cause for stop and a possible search. The same applies to other parts of the country where crime and security are major concerns.

Good point about high end cars not being driven as much, didn't think about that. Most I see are at some kind of event/meet.

The other thing is those who do drive their prized cars frequently often utilize removable front plate solutions like my Sto-N-Sho, where the plate is on and off in 2 seconds. If my C7 was parked at a car show (which it never will be), it wouldn't have a front plate. However, it does every time it's on the road.

That Foosh is exactly why I mentioned it. Just to the south of me is where it splits into I-35E which runs up to Dallas and, I-35W which runs up to Ft Worth. Both legs of which cross I-20 and I-30. I'm sure you would not be surprised at how many of the county and local departments in TX and the adjoining states have well trained drug interdiction units. I see them all the time strip searching vehicles on the side of the road

Considering the number of state prisons you have on both sides of I-45 in the area, plus the prison museum with a DPS post next to it, I sure as hell wouldn't run around the area without a plate.

I live in New Jersey where front plates are required. Doesn't bother me in the least running a front plate. Especially since I paid for vanity plates!

I see that the new 2019 Vettes have a place to mount a plate whereas the C6 Vettes do not. Is this in response from LEO's that have heard that "there is no place to mount a plate officer" ???

That same plate mount has been available since 2014.

Double checked the integrity of the factory provided grille aero-plate's mounts, drilled (4) holes in the faceplate of the aeroplate, and screwed the FRONT plate on with all (4) screws.

My time is too valuable to be running from LE, with no front plate on my new C7.

Circling back to this, I am now noticing other cars not running their front plates. Seems to be a big thing with the mini cooper crowd.
