Blind spot mirrors

You can use some fishing line or dental floss to go behind them and slice them off. Then clean up with some alcohol and a razor blade as needed.

Hmm, been using what folks refer to as "Properly Adjusted Mirrors" since the SAE paper in 1995 that defined "Put your head on the drivers window etc etc!" That is what the graphic below is based on - but you must read the right side in addition to looking at the pics.
The SAE paper discussed that in the multipage paper on defensive driving! If all folks are looking for is a way to see the cars immediately behind their rear fenders fine! But that is NOT defensive driving! In fact the "Blind Sport Detection" in the wife's BMW SUV only does that and is also not the best solution, IMO!
Below is why I used small oval "blind spot mirrors" in my C7, Z51 and particularly need and use one on the drivers side of my new Grand Sport! Perhaps this dialog will be useful for those who use them or want to use them and don't like the written abuse they get from some Forum folks who just discovered the "put your head on the window" method! They are like reformed smokers, IMO!

DETAILS:
First, never felt I needed or used them in my '88, '93, or '08 Vette coupes. The narrow view of the rear in the C7 coupe and especially my Grand Sport with a Stage 2 aero spoiler that limits rear view further! Almost as bad as a Vert!
Have never in 55+ years of driving had an accident with another vehicle! (Looking for wood.) Yep some of that is luck but also being aware of all vehicles around me. That requires an automatic habit of looking in all mirrors all the time. As that little clip below states "you MUST follow a car from the center mirror to the side mirrors." Could do that in my C6! Harder to do in my C7 and worse in my Grand Sport with Stage 2 spoiler that further limits rear viability accept directly in the center.
Why is that needed? A good example is a recent experience on I95 where I set my cruise control at 77 mph. Lots of beeps on my radar detector as I am in an area that catches folks coming from up North going to FL and we're the first big town after leaving NC! I fellow passed me in the left lane as if I was standing still, going at least 90 mph in an SUV. He was holding a cell phone in his right hand looking at it! Yep illegal even in SC if he was actually texting -a $25 fine if the trooper wants to go the court and "prove" he was texting! We still allow holding a phone to talk. But even if was arguing with his girlfriend (about his wife,
) he was distracted. Need to follow him as he is approaching from much further back that just my rear fenders.I find it common for folks to do that in the right lane thinking they are using middle lane traffic of block radar! Need to check out both, just in case you need to move quickly.
That happened to me! I was in the center lane and a large 18 wheeler tire tread was in my lane. No time to turn my head. Had been looking in both of my driver's side large mirror (set per the graphic below,) my small mirror and the center mirror with it's limited view and knew there was no AH barreling down the left lane. Made a quick decision to change lanes and avoid destroying my carbon fiber splitter!
Your car your choice but understand some of us who use "blind spot mirrors," do it for a reason!
Do I think blind spot mirrors or automatic blind spot detection are the best solution? NO! We should be allowed to have convex driver's side mirrors as are allowed in Europe and on the passenger side mirror in the US! Just Sayin'!
Problem defined by the ~1995 SAE Paper is it Requires a Wide View of Rear. C7 Does Not Have a Wide View Like My C6. Must Read Words Underlined and Understand the Concept!
