If you're worried about throwing codes, it won't. However, you may have to worry about rubbing particularly on the front.
Why are you interested in going wider on the front? It's not going to improve handling and may do the opposite.
One of the forum members who attend time attack used to say that the narrower front tires are 'an opportunity' to get better handling by making them bigger, especially on high HP platforms like ours.
I used to think that wider tire would have no benefit without a matching wider wheel, but that also seems to be wrong. They (a racing team in CA, and Emilio as the driver) did test a wider tire with wheels of various widths, and even the narrowest allowed wheel was able to retain most if not all the lap time benefits, but it gave less feedback.
In short, I know the OP doesn't care much about track performance, but for those who do, I'd at least keep an open mind to trying wider tires : )
