Default Verts w/M7 ???

Since I sold my Mustang this week I'm considering a Vette. In looking at the Chevy site and dealers websites, I don't see any convertibles with manual trans. Not many Stingray convertibles period ?

What gives ?

There aren't many in dealer's stock and if you want the 3LT in your M7 vert-good luck finding one without ordering it. I ordered my 3LT M7 vert.

You didn't say at what dealers you are looking at. If you are looking at smaller local dealers good luck finding a M7 of any variety. Corvette sales are about 80/20 auto/manual these days and only larger dealers are going to stock manuals.

You are very vague about what car you are actually looking for "convertible with M7" could be any of 12 trims (base, Z51, Grand Sport, Z06, in 1/2/3 LT/LZ trims). You'll have a much easier time finding a Grand Sport than you will any other model as that is the best seller these days. If you check the forum dealers you'll find a few in stock.

I checked MacMulkin and they have some, but to give you an idea of the numbers game you are playing:

MacMulkin has 253 new C7's listed. Of those they have:

2x base M7 vert 1LT
2x base M7 vert 2LT
0x base M7 vert 3LT

0x Z51 M7 vert 1LT
2x Z51 M7 vert 2LT
0x Z51 M7 vert 3LT

0x GS M7 vert 1LT
12x GS M7 vert 2LT
4x GS M7 vert 3LT

0x Z06 M7 vert 1LZ
1x Z06 M7 vert 2LZ
0x Z06 M7 vert 3LZ

M7s count for less than 30% of C7 sales. Vert's probably less than that. Dealers don't order cars that are likely to sit on their lot forever.

I ordered my M7 'vert from Mike Furman at Criswell, and had it in less than 8 weeks.

I'd recommend what the others are saying. Just place an order provided that time isn't an issue. At least then you can get what you want and how you want it. Side notes:

1) If you wait till after the deadline with the intent to order...to be honest, at that point I'd just wait until late winter 2017/2018, unless you live in a warmer climate. No need placing an order when 10" of snow is forthcoming.

2) Based on what I've seen and read, some dealers are more knowledgeable than others. I'd do research on that which is as easy as going to the dealership and talking to them.

When I was looking for my Vette recently, M7's of any variety were getting damn hard to find.

A vert C7 M7, on a dealer lot, is like spotting a unicorn...

Thanks for all the responses. Really just starting my search. If ordering a car, how do they factor in the incentives if it is 8 weeks out ?

I think they are definitely a rarity unless you order. Dealers that order cars for the showrooms I don't think usually order M7's.

Looking at the Grand Sport Collector Edition Registry statistics gives a little insight I think. A lot of the cars were ordered by dealers, not by individuals (I don't have stats on that, but it's the feeling I have).

Of the 935 that we have data on, only 20.9% of them were M7's.

You're looking at Verts of course. Of that same population of cars, only 2.7% of the total were Convertible M7's (26 cars).

Further support of this would be the data that was presented at the Bash not long ago.

2017 Stingrays: 81% Automatics
2017 Grand Sports: 79% Automatics
2017 Z06: 71% Automatics

They didn't break down Convertibles, but you get the idea.

They are out there, but you have to look for them.

Another point (my speculation) is that a lot of folks that want to take their cars to the track are driving M7's. Can't take the vert's to the track....

Had to order my M7 3LZ Z06 Vert, very unlikely to have many if any on dealer lots, unless a mega dealer.

I believe it is whatever incentives are around when you place your order not when you receive the car.
