So just signed up for the Ron Fellows driving school the weekend of August 11, can't wait. Anyone else going this weekend?
Anybody who has done it before I was curious if you guys purchased the additional insurance? From the videos I've seen it seems pretty structured and going off the track/crashing seems highly unlikely. I guess your're responsible for the first $8000 but you can buy down to $2000. Then there is the $150 alignment fee for going off the track (seriously!)
Anyways any advice would be great. Also any places to eat/recommendations on things to do while there are welcome.
It is very structured and very well done. Unless you have a medical emergency or simply totally ignore what they are teaching you, you will stay on track.
The insurance is for people that don' t listen to what you are taught. After the first day I was nervous because of the challenge, but the following day the lessons started to jell and I started going faster and faster safely. The people have had problems and gone off the track are those that think they know it all and don't listen.

For $8K, I took my chances. Kind of a strange thing to buy $6K of insurance. My biggest recommendation is to watch sone PDR videos of peoples runs there to get an idea of the track and what you are facing. Wish I had spent more time learning the corners first.
