That roof is lexan, I'm not sure I'd wanna use compound on it. Try Plexus, it's a cleaner/polisher designed for that stuff. It works really well.

I've used Adam's Polishes Glass Cleaner on my car (a C5) - has always taken water spots off.

The thread is mis-titled because it's not a glass roof.

wipe it with a cool wet rag than use a detailing spray and clean rag to buff it to a shine.

I used to use Ducky water spot remover back in my JetSki days and it worked pretty well.

I'm backing the vinegar and water method as a starting point. Mild vinegar solution should remove any calcification. May need to do it a couple times but spray, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe with a good towel. What could be easier?

WADR, first, know your product. Second, yes, you'll get lots of ideas on here, some of which would be wrong. Third, as at least a couple have said, look up the actual name of the product your roof is made of, Lexan. And look what you will find---products that clean Lexan.

Finally, there's even a thread from a mfr. of the product saying, this is how to clean it:

Good luck.
