If you are at risk for being stranded in the middle of nowhere, or worse yet in some parts of big cities, having a (legal) firearm and training in it's use is worth considering.
As a retired officer, I can carry almost anywhere in the US. And carrying a firearm is about as exciting to me as carrying a phone. In fact, if I had to choose between a cellphone and a firearm, 99% of the time I'd pick the phone. Fortunately, I and most others get to make our own choices.
