Tough times indeed. The age old problem, how many corvettes is too many? There are 12 months, so one would think 12 corvettes in different colors to fit that months mood, but your not always sure what mood you may be in. You could scale back to just 7, one for each day of the week, each morning matching the weather and your mood to what vette deserves your attention that day. Then there's the minimalist corvette owner, with only three you would have to drive one more than once a week, of course that's once a week more than the corvette queen owners. Hmmm, tough spot indeed my friend. You lucky SOB, I would LOVE to have three vettes, one I beat the crap out of, one I show, one to track and race. Just take lots of pictures so us poor vette owners who 'only' have one new C7 will know what it looks like when we grow up to true ambassadors of the corvette world.
I bet most of us would have multiple C7s if we good afford it, because even though we bought one exterior / interior color, options, etc, we have another interior and/or exterior color we would also like to own.
If you can afford it buy it. Good luck in your decision.
But when you have a wife, kids (all grown) and judgmental in-laws, you need to explain. Yes, I can afford it now but in the future who knows?
OTOH, my first new Corvette was red 30 years ago and this manual with the black convert would be a dream especially with the performance exhaust. I'm torn. Wish I were single right now!
Wish you were single because your wife will be against it or your in-laws? F the in-laws, none of their business. But, wish you were single so you can get a 3rd C7 - think there's more issues here than just whether to buy that car or not...
The man worked hard, provided for his loved ones, and can afford a bit of luxury for himself and those loved ones, and you want some of his hard work?
SMH.
No. I don't want anything from him. I have a very nice Vette. "A bit of luxury" is one nice car. Excessive is 2 or more IMO. It's all good, he has to make and live with his decisions. I am not the judge and jury. He asked for opinions and I gave mine, simple as that.
You can only drive one at a time. Drive the car like it is a Chevy and trade often when the blemishes appear. You will enjoy your car more not worrying about paint chips, minor dings and scratches. That my friend is exactly what I do. Happy motoring!
I'm more of a collector than a trader, however. Usually I don't like selling my cars because I took a lot of time researching and buying them. When I run out of space or rationales to own them, then I reluctantly let them go, hopefully to a good home.
For example, I just sold my first C7, a Z51 manual, to a young guy who was very enthusiastic about Corvettes. I felt like I was passing the torch to the next generation and keeping the dream alive. I was happy for him to have a great car he would enjoy.
You don't need to justify anything to anybody. People will always make judgements about you by what you drive or how many cars you may have. Ignore them and have as many cars as you like!
But the more cars you have, the more family members hit you up for money even though they could make their own. For example, I had a nephew recently ask me for $500 for no necessary purpose. I suggested instead that he sell an old car that had been sitting in the family garage for a decade.
Eventually, he took my advice and sold the car for $4,000. Hopefully, I taught him something about making money, but maybe not.
Seems a bit excessive but whatever makes you happy.
Just a century ago, most people had only one pair of shoes or boots and some had none. When I was a kid, I had two pair at a time, maximum.
Today, having dozens of pairs is common and people buy them because they make them happy, not because they need them. We live in a different age now and our feelings matter more than our needs.
Most of us agree that a owning Corvette makes you happy. If it doesn't then do something else with your money to make you happy.

For me it was more about being in the right place at the right time with the necessary qualifications. Then making more right decisions than wrong choices (tho I definitely make some bad ones). Index fund investing is a good idea, BTW.
How about sharing that wealth with people less fortunate than yourself? Seems very excessive to me.
This sounds like a good suggestion.... (I need another C7!)
However, at some point everyone needs to think about starting to get rid of "stuff" instead of just accumulating more..
I think I am already there. I thought about trading for a GS, but decided I am really satisfied with my 2014 Stingray.
BTW, I still only have two pairs of shoes...tennis shoes and dress shoes. Good enough.

Keeping the Corvette dream alive for the next generation is a worthy cause. Leaving a legacy that will outlive me is important too. Hopefully my Corvettes will still be on the road decades from now.

When we were dating I bought a red C4. She was not happy with my "life style" choice. But we got married 2 years later and that was 30 years ago and still going strong. So no issues, but buying the C4 was an easy decision when I was single. Now buying another red Corvette is not as easy.
You'll never be able to justify it to anyone who needs justification. If you want it, can afford it and it would make you happy, then do it. In terms of the money having other uses for the less fortunate, well, each person makes up their own mind on that one.
