Kerbeck worked a good deal for me so I went to BG to watch it's birth on 2/13, took delivery 3/17, R.I.P. on 6/2, ten weeks and 1500 miles from the day of delivery. I spent more time polishing and waxing it than driving it. Statistically, 1 of 2 for 2017

Holy crap, I hate to see that. If no one was hurt everything else will will work itself out. I just hope it works out to your satisfaction.

I feel for you Corvette brother. Seeing them bashed up hurts. At least it looks like nobody was injured and in the end, that's the most important thing.

My daughter was driving south on 95 in Bangor, Maine and entered the turnoff to 395, she was going slow and a pickup came around behind us, probably way too fast based on the damage, and took out the driver rear.
Every panel from driver door around to the passenger wheel well was damaged and you can see the suspension damage with it up on the flatbed. The body shifted clockwise on the frame and bunched all the "non struck panels" together. Frame damage in at least driver rear.
GEICO called me yesterday to give me the bad new... Total loss.

What are you going to replace it with?

No one was hurt; us nor the other driver. I may not be obvious, but I was out of the car and taking photos before any LEO's arrived; the other driver's On-Star kicked it. NO air bags deployed.
It will take some time for things to resolve. Maybe Dave Salvatore, Kerbeck, will take pity on me and offer me repeat on the deal so I can order a twin 2018.
There is nothing, as in duplicate, out there for 2017, so I'll probably order a 2018; if I can get a deal similar to the one I got from Kerbeck. If that's not possible, I'm not certain. I may just go get a C5 to tide me for a while and wait for a discount on the ZR1.

Bangor, Maine...
A funny.., or prescient, conversation...
Joe Zulli and I were chatting while waiting for the paperwork on delivery day. I mentioned to him that my first "trip" would be to visit my daughter and surprise her because all her life she's wanted to ride in a "red convertible".
Who woulda thunk the outcome.

The offer they made seems reasonable, for an insurance company, although with time to think about it, dropping the value of the Z by 7% in 10 weeks and 1500 miles seems a bit much. When I call them back on Monday, I will see if they are willing to negotiate. I understand how the world works, but I'd rather not take that much of a hit.
I just ordered My C7 from Mike at Criswell, he indicated as long as orders are in by end of day Monday, it should go through. Just a thought, as I'm not sure how long you want to wait, after the cutoff, I think it pushes delivery out to NOV.

In the meantime -- if Dave can give you the same deal you should re-order on Monday! You can still get in before the re-tooling and have the car sooner.

Yeah...
In the mid 70's I gave up my 58 and 65 for family life and wiped my mind clear of everything Corvette. I waited 40 years for the next one, and then this.

It's bad enough your car is gone, but I hope you went to the hospital to get checked, cause sometimes things start to hurt couple days later when the shock wares off.
Good luck on the next car, that car you don't want back.
Get checked out.

And now that you mention it, on Tuesday when I went for my first 5 mile run after the accident, I felt a twinge near my left hip. Never felt that before.
As for the car, when I first chatted with the adjuster, he noted that he needed to call in the regional manager. Then speaking with him the day after the inspection, he mentioned that his manager asked for a market value analysis, and that some of the mechanics inspecting the car stared in awe at the damage, and the complexity of what was in that area of the car. "what's this for? anyone ever see this? yada, yada, yada..."
After hearing about the frame damage, that the body shifted on the frame and the bunched up body panels, them calling it a total loss was the best outcome for all.
I intend to have much better luck with the replacement.
I think if I can get them to sweeten the offer by another 3k, I would come out just about even; which I think is fair to all.
