Fit and finish continue to be an issue for the C7. I wonder if the "new paint shop" will improve things.
Good luck with your dealer.

That should have caught by their QC inspector!
My GS was built on 06.12 and should be arriving next week, I will do a thorough check out before signing the paperwork!

That should be covered by GM warranty, just a shame to spend a good amount of money on GM's best and have quality issues.

That should be covered, if not write GM!

It's covered, and GM will send a factory painted fascia. There's another thread on here about it. Don't let them paint it, get the new fascia.

I don't believe I'm overly finicky with my car but this topic gets me going. This defect is not an outlier.been described since 14s came out and it's disgusting to see it still happening on current deliveries.I make it a habit to look at all the new ones on the lots everywhere I go. I bet it's 15-20 % of the ones delivered BEFORE the panels move with operation . Back in 2013/14 guy described loosening screws on bumper cover and wedging zip tie to increase tolerance to keep from rubbing/cracking It.wouldnt be so bad but it's right there to see.Why can't they fix this!!!first place I'm going to look on my 18 if I trade the 15 in later this year.

GM has been good with the repair of this....I passed as the body guy said that if they paint it and put it back to factory spec it will do it again. He did say that they might be able to put a shim and have that hold the bumper and finder pieces a bit farther apart. Thought about it but decided to pass. Dr Colorchip and a bit of time might be the best fix.

The panels are supposed to be tight. The problem is something in the process is preventing adhesion. Get a new panel that is factory painted. If it was due to tight fit then both sides would be peeling.

But hope they do for what they paid for doing the new paint shop. One of the worse painted car out on the market for what a person is paying for this car. Robert

We picked up ours at the Museum last week, and first thing I did was look at these seem areas based on comments here. Now I almost check daily waiting for it to happen (I need to stop).
Side note, our delivery guide at the museum, said he checked our car over pretty good for paint defects before we arrived. He even commented that ours looked way better on orange peel than most. Said we must have gotten lucky on the day it got painted, the paint shop with the large quantity of outside air pumped in is vulnerable to humidity swings making some days quality better than others.
He also said the new paint shop will be treating the outside air coming in to maintain desired temp and humidity, something the current one does not.

That does not follow ASHRAE design standards. Ventilation air has to have the ability to be preheated in the winter, and cooled/dehumidified in the summer prior to being mixed with the building air. I'm sure paint shops have their own standards (my experience is in commercial space) but no way is dumping raw outside air* into a building a common or acceptable practice.
*Not to be confused with air side economizers for "free" cooling.

This kind of stuff is so rookie and amateurish. I remember when I bought my one and only new vette back in 2002 and this stuff was happening, now 15 years later these guys still come off like they cant get stuff right no matter how big or small the problem or how long it has persisted. Huge bummer. And for the record, if I saw a paint defect of that magnitude, I would re order the car.
