Hi, just received a '17 Grand Sport 2 weeks ago. I live in NY and it's mandatory to have a front license plate. Does anyone know a good retractable license plate? I tried searching the forum but every time I clicked a link, it would just show up as a white page, so i gave up and figured I would write a post.
You say that a lot, and yes, the frame is not as obvious, but it doesn't disappear. I don't like the location in the middle of grille.
However, my main reason for preferring the Sto-N-Sho is the ability to have it on or off in 2 seconds by pulling on a spring-loaded plunger, which I do frequently.

Actually, I probably say that everytime. (It is intended to be a joke)
Like when I say if you use body color duct tape, like below, you have no air restricted to the radiator, and it blends right in.
Plus, I drilled a couple of holes through the plate so I can remove the bracket without taking the plate off. Not as fast as a spring release, but still pretty easy.
What I don't like about plates that mount below the grille is that I do not want to add anything that becomes the lowest part of the car at the front end.
Oh, and here is my rough analysis of how much open area is increased by trimming the plate that I did back in 2014, so I have thought about it a little... Never had any over heating problems.
You can trim the aero panel down to the size of the plate to increase the open area of the grille by about 25% over what it is with the full panel installed. Then you should not have any overheating problems at all. I drove mine on a trip in Texas heat and it still only got to about 212 deg. when moving.
NOTE: The aero panel appears to block a smaller part of the grille than it really does since the outside sections of the stock grille are not even open to airflow.
An estimated area added would be about 2" x 2" x 2 on each side (16 sq. in.) plus maybe 1/2" x 12" x 2 across for top and bottom (12 sq. in.), for a total of approx. 28 sq. in.. (I think there would also be some extra air flow around the edge of the plate and behind it, but I won't count that)
The open area of the grille with the aero panel in place is about 2" x 7" x 4 = 56 sq. in.
percent increase = approx. 28/56 =50%
For reference, the area of the plate is about 12" x 6-1\4" = 75 sq. in., but the open area of the grille behind the plate is less than that.
Best guess is that with the aero panel installed, the open area of the grill is reduced by 50%, and by trimming the panel, it opens approximately 25% more by allowing air flow around the plate. 75% open instead of 50%. Conservatively, it probably opens at least 15%, or 65% total open area.

Exactly, yours is similar, but mine is the Sto-N-Sho.
Not only does it not block airflow to the radiator to the same extent, most importantly the entire plate and bracket are off in 2 sec. The only thing left when off is an invisible mounting block underneath, which attaches to existing fasteners in the center of the undertray. This model is NOT lower than the lowest part of the car.
I have the Sto-n-Sho bracket for my 17 GS, since CA is a front plate state as well. Unfortunately, the bottom edge of the plate just drags when pulling out of my driveway, since my driveway is really steep. However it's just at the very bottom as the front wheels go into the gutter, so I might be able to get some kind of gutter bridge to alleviate that problem. Currently, I'm just running without the front plate attached, and agree that the Sto-n-Sho bracket is a breeze for mounting and unmounting in 2 seconds.
Not the lowest part of the car, but does lower the clearance on the nose of the bumper...
How far above the ground is the bottom of the bracket for the plate?
It's flush with the bottom of the lower lip, "people flippers." In fact, I park way back, but for those who can't seem to do that, it's a great curb finder to save scratching your lower lip. The other factor is I don't have a splitter. They do have a model that fits cars with splitters, but that one, by definition, has to go lower to clear it.
However, as Dachtler noted just above, it does extend forward from the lip, so I can see why his could rub on a steep driveway, especially with a splitter, but the lip would not.

I just removed my Aero bracket or whatever the hell it's called and I'm replacing it with the Sto N Sho. Driving around without any plate right now and I'm finding that the coolant and oil temps have both dropped well below where they were running when I had the Aero bracket installed. When I'd aggressively shift manually it was easy to have both temp readings reach the 220 mark. With no plate in place I'm lucky if I can get them to hit 205. Unfortunately I live in a front plate state and drive through a town where I've already been stopped for no plate (Berlin, MA). So I can't leave it off completely. I'm anxious to see the temps with the Sto N Sho in place.
I had the Remote Show n Go plate holder on C5 , Loved it and had no problems during the 7 years it was on car. Recently got my 2017 GS delivered and can't use the Show N Go plate holder on GS due to front splitter. So I chose the Sto N Show plate holder after good comments of forum members. I installed about a month ago and have no issues with holder. On the GS you do have to drill one hole. Below is a picture of bracket used on GS and Z06 models. The back screw on bracket is the one you need to drill others use existing screws and holes.
Doesn't state that it will fit GS or Z06.
Vendor doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're". ;-(
If referring to the Show N Go plate holder it will NOT fit GS due to the splitter and down pitch of nose at splitter . I took the one I had and tried you would need to Fabricate a bracket to attach to plate holder bracket to level it when on car. Dave
