Does your A/C cut out?

Bought her gently used October of '16
The A/C will drop offline now and then. I can't really pin down the conditions when this occurs. But seems to happen with an quick acceleration or if I don't giver enough gas momentarily while in a too high of a gear for the speed. But not causing her to struggle...say, I'm still in 3rd and at about 10-12mph.
And it doesn't always happen. And some times it'll drop off when the engine is NOT struggling.

Burning Brakes
The A/C compressor is designed to cut off during hard acceleration. I have noticed a couple times that mine cuts on and off even while just cruising along the highway. Then again, so does my central air at home once it reaches designated temp.

Melting Slicks
Could also be low on Freon OR something that happened to me; the clutch arms were breaking leaving only two of the three drive pads to engage. I could never figure it out until the seconded arm broke and I was down to one drive pad. Turned out to be an easy fix once I new what it was.

It's normal on all modern vehicles for the compressor to "disengage" and free-wheel once it reaches a designated temp for fuel mileage, as well as when the engine is under a heavy load.

Exactly as Foosh said. This even goes back to the days before electronic engine controls when a simple switch controlled by manifold vacuum would open the compressor clutch control line when the manifold approached atmospheric pressure during wide open throttle operation.
