Default Getting a new dash

Well looks like the c6 dash problems are going to be an issue in the c7s as well. Leather started separating from the dash in my 2014 3lt. Excuse the crappy pictures dealer took them for me.

Damn, that is alot of stuff off. Wish they didn't have an oil film on their lens but working there I'm sure it happens. Hey, at least they are fixing it. Things break which sucks but still happens. Maybe you can post when they get it back together. Of course being me, I'd want to go see it in person even if i have to sign a waiver (for bullshit insurance purposes) because i like seeing as opposed to hearing.

Nice. Not that I would want to see my car disassembled but if it was, I'd have to see it. Hope it works out all good.

There have been times when I've kicked myself for going with 2LT instead of 3LT but after seeing your photos I think I made the right choice.

Ha ha ha ha yes I'm kinda kicking myself in the ***. I hopingbit was a one off problem. I haven't seen or heard of anyone else having this issue in a c7. I just hope it goes back together with no rattles.

Where exactly did the leather separate? How bad was it?

Not a sight I would ever want to see with one of my cars. Hope they get it put back together correctly and you don't have any more problems.

That sucks. I hope it all works out. I don't think this is a systemic problem though...

If dealer is using a IPhone 6 it may need the lens assy. worked on, Apple has a fix for the blurry pics. Hope I never have that problem with the dash. Do you have a pic of your problem?

Unfortunately, there have been others here reporting the same problem with their 3LTs. I can recall at least a handfull.

It was pretty bad. If the car sat out in the hot sun all day you couldn't tell where it was bubbled up. As soon as it sat in the garage and cooled off it looked awful. Pulled up all around the defrost vent and bubbled up all around the gauge cluster/hud. I do not have pictures of it. Didn't want anything to remind me of how bad it looked. I just turned 19000 miles on the car.

I was wondering about this on my 2015 3LT--depending on temperature, the leather on the dash appears loose, basically big air bubble but I was leery about taking it in to the dealer under warranty for a repair.

I'm literally afraid that the cure will be worse than the disease on this one.

Let me know what your overall experience is--mine's under warranty until January, so I've got time to reconsider.

Yep that's exactly what mine looked like. Bubbled up everywhere. Really disgusting for a car that cost this much. If I get it back and it's not right I'm not even gonna mess with it. I will just trade it off.

Could this be why the full leather dash was eliminated in 2016?

It wasn't eliminated. If you're referring to the Kalahari, what changed is that the dash was no longer all Kalahari; it became black (Napa leather) with Kalahari trim.

Altho it was probably a design change, I could also guess it might have been a "visibility" issue, as well. That reflection of some light-colored dashes can be a quite a bit.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. I've never had a problem with mine and I've done a lot of mods to mine.

What state are you in? I just picked up a 2017 3LT GS. I'm assuming that the issue is more likely to occur if the car is in a region that gets lots of hot weather and especially if the car is not garaged. Does this describe your situation? I'm in the Seattle area where most people consider it hot if it's in the 80s, so hoping this isn't something I'll get hit with down the road.
