Have you driven your C7 with TC turned off? I have read a couple of articles in a magazine last week that turning off TC, especially Stingrays and Grand Sport models, significantly improves acceleration and performance. What is your take on this? Obviously one would have to be very careful when doing this, but for experienced drivers this may be a way of having more control, performance and acceleration.

Nope, that's not the way it works. PTM aside, which is a different discussion, the TC does not inhibit, reduce, or lower performance in any way unless and until wheel slip is detected. In wheel slip scenarios it's possible that a skilled driver can modulate it better than the computer, but that's not what you're asserting here - you're saying the car is faster with TC off regardless, or that's how it reads, and that's not the case.
This sounds like one of those urban legends that people believe right up until they take that famous right-turn into the forest that Z06s are known for without TC on.
If you're talking straight-line acceleration, I seriously doubt it's better w/ TC off. I don't care how experienced you are. A computer is always going to have a better reaction time than a human.
People often feel the car has more power with it off because the wheels are spinning, but that doesn't translate to going faster.

I wear out tires too quickly anyway without adding more in to the equation.

I have and it doesn't. You can probably beat launch control for 1/4 mile times.

Yes, agree. Even with TC on in Tour mode, I still see a fair amount of wheel spin, but the system seems to gently modulate the amount of power delivered to the rear wheels, until full traction is gained.

Fortunately where I work there are several nice long service drives with little to NO traffic. I've played around with the TC on and OFF and did the 0-60 times many times on different days and temps. Average times either way 4.0-4.2, best time 3.8 with TC off and 4.0 with TC on. Biggest factor seems to be Temp, tires, and surface composition. On concrete, warm tires, PSS OEM tires brings for me; consistent 4.0 - 4.1 0-60 times both on the PDR and the DIC timer. Honestly, Launch Control seems to be a tad slower always (4.3 - 4.4) so I rarely use it anymore. Maybe on a prepped track it might work better?
On new blacktop (very smooth) WOW, either you torch them with TC off or run slower with TC on, (4.3 - 5.0)
Sorry for the long dissertation but in my opinion at my skill level (low) on non-prepped surfaces the car is very consistent at what I would say is 4.0 to 4.2 w/and without TC on/off.
I'm sure a light mod, tune etc. might bring the car consistently into the high 3's. JMO with more 0-60 runs that $$ to replace tires LOL.
2015 A8 Base NPP Borla X-pipe no other mods

In Portland Oregon with traction control on the best I could ever do 0-60 was 4.0. I am living in Lake Havasu now, and consistently get a 3.8 and 3.9. Must be these cookie cooking temperatures here for the pavement and tires.

I envy both -- Lake Havasu is beautiful and consistent 3.8-3.9 times is excellent. By the way, I go to Laughlin a few times a year for vacation, both are nice areas.

We're taking a drive up there tomorrow. Going to Bullhead City first and them up to Laughlin and back home to Lake Havasu. Up on 95 and back on the Needles Hwy. !

Sorry off subject; the short hills on Needles highway are fun as long as you don't go too fast, like a roller coaster
Have a good drive, I'll PM you next trip to Laughlin maybe we can meet up for coffee and car talk LOL (late Oct or early Nov)
