I was buying a 17 last night and the salesman was showing how to open hatch with key, he open hatch and opened door with the pull cable. The problem is that when I went to shut the hatch it wouldnt close. I had to leave car at dealership so they could figure it out? does anyone know a fix?
Don't 2017's have the power latch?
Never thought about before, but when the key is used to open the hatch with a good battery, does the electric latch stay retracted?
You may need to hit the hatch release button to move the latch to the open position, and then try to close it.
If the latch stays in the closed position, you may need to open the driver door to relieve pressure so it will latch like on cars without power latch.

Door was open. Started car. Hit lock and unlock. Hit open hatch. Wouldn't close like it was stuck in locked position. Service dept will work on it Monday .
The pull cable opens the driver door, not the hatch.
Mine's a convertible, but has a pull cable for both. And I got the cable jammed once (after R&R'ing the rear fascia), so I couldn't close the trunk. Sounded similar, but I'm guessing now OP has a coupe....

What was the resolution? My '16 now has this problem. My tender somehow got unplugged over the winter. Dead battery. Used key to open hatch and charge battery. Car starts, windows operate, doors lock/unlock. Hatch will not latch closed. The power grab doesn't engage. I've made an appointment at the dealer but they are booked three week out and I want to start driving now.
Pop open the hatch again and open a door before you shut it. The windows or door needs opened because the car is too air tight to shut the hatch otherwise. Apparently they added a motor(s) in the later models to assist by pulling it down as they did in the C6s.
There is a recall on the latch on the 2017 convertibles. I am going to take my car in soon, I have noticed intermittent issues with my latch.
Larry, that recall even reached back to the '16's. My 03/16 build Vert was in that recall. Took all of 10 minutes, and I was on my way. That was the first thing I thought about when I read the OP's post.

Thanks for the response. The passenger window is open. Driver window also open as well as the door. So it isn't an air pressure issue. The power close on the hatch never engages. I can push the hatch all the way down to conform with the rest of the body but it pops right back up once pressure is removed.

Where is the pull cable for your trunk lid (hatch)? Are you talking about the glow in the dark emergency release? Coupe's would have that, since anyone back there could climb out the front door.
Hey y'all, do you think a reset would work? You know, unhook the positive battery cable for awhile, and then plug her back up. That's fixed a lot of electronic ills on these cars in the past.
