Default 2016 vs 2017?

Hi guys,

Looking to buy a base automatic vette, and am debating between 2016 & 2017. Looking to buy under $49k -- ideally $47k

I'd go for a '16, perhaps, if it had a 2LT next to a '17 1LT, but I'm curious for your thoughts.

Totally new to the corvette world, had a '15 CLA45 AMG previously (terrible car)

If you're looking for a base vette, you can pickup a new 2017 for $49K.

Go for the newer year model. A '17 1LT will be a very nicely equipped car.

Be sure to check the features of the base 1LT. If your coming from a CLA you'll be missing a lot of features. But maybe that doesn't bother you.

The only real difference that i can think of between 16 and 17 is the larger standard wheels 19/20 vs. 18/19.

You should be able to get a larger discount on the 16 obviously.

All things considered, I'd choose a '16 2LT over a '17 1LT every day of the week. The added features are worthwhile to me. I know some here will bring up the topic of resale; I always recommend buying the the car way you want it and not trying to make the next owner happy. Even the lowest price isn't a good deal if you don't like the car.

Very sage advice - you will have an easy time forking up a little extra money for a car you LOVE and have no regrets with. Welcome to the Corvette Family!

2016 2LT over a 2017 1LT any day of the week . I would even take a 2015 used low mileage 3LT or 2LT over a new 2017 1LT. Yes I would take a 2014 A6 used low mileage 2LT or 3LT over a new 2017 1LT but that is just my opinion and you know what they say abot opinions!

Whichever you get, research the hell out of the options before pulling the trigger. I often see guys asking if they can add magnetic ride to a car that didn't come with it or if they can add the NPP exhaust to a car that didn't come with it. Some things can be added after the fact, while others are not so trivial, so it's best to pay for some of these items up front to begin with.

Good post....I recently started thinking of returning back to Corvette, like yourself I am looking for 2016 2LT,3LT I prefer used with low mileage, But I haven't ruled out 2014-2017 hoping to get it at right price. Good luck with your search. I hear what your saying, I would like to stay at 47k range.

2LT / NPP performance exhaust - no ifs, ands, or buts!
Memory seats, heated and cooled seats, heads-up display, better audio, and nicer interior. Dual-mode exhaust!

its bargain time on the 17's, especially stingrays. maybe not so's you'd see from GM incentives yet. but they will come around.

What do you want, luxury? Definitely go for the lt2 package then.

2LT Preferred Equipment Group (2LT) $4,455

but if you want a sporting car, (and adding 15k to a base 250CLA price to get a 450AMGCLA seems to mean you do), then there are two items in order of import for a sporting vette;

1. Z51 1LT Preferred Equipment Group (1LT) $5000
2. Magnetic Selective Ride Control (FE2) $3495 (without Z51)
2a. Magnetic Selective Ride Control (FE4) $1,795 (with Z51)

Both of these items are pricey so it would probably be an either/or 2lt or z51 or mag ride. probably not all three for under 50k. i regretted not getting the z51 package on the first vette i bought, and so the next three had that package.

your car, your choices. good hunting.

I just went from a 2016 Z51 to a 2017 GS and to be honest, I felt the fit and finish was better, the stereo sounded better and I wasn't getting wind noise from the seat belt area... shifter from 1st to 2nd when cold was also better.... maybe Chevrolet addressed issues that people were grumbling about ?

Would not buy a Vette without: HUD, seat memory, need to make entry and exit easier. I set the steering wheel as well as the front and rear seat height to go fully up. Seat all the way back (-1/2 inch.)

Driving I have the steering wheel just below the upper dash pad, the rear seat down and tilted back.

I also felt my C6 missed a subwoofer-IMO needed to drown out the tire and road noise! The Bose in LT2 & LT3 have that extra -with Bose not easy to add.

The other features like remote buttons and heated and cooled seats are nice to have. IMO best Vette value.

Or you can justify the extra couple thousand dollar expense to get it 2lt 17 if you can't find a 16 new the way you like it. The other option is to find a 16 with less than a thousand miles on it that has a clean service history no issues that somebody bought impulsively and then turned it back in for a Grand Sport or ZO6 or just didn't like the car but the used Market on these cars is so close to New it's hard to justify not getting no one right now.

only way I would consider a 1lt anything would be if I was tracking the car couldn't afford a C7 and was able to step up to 1 or wanted the cheapest convertible weekend car I could find. It's easier to never experienced a two or three LT and be happy with the one then checking out the two or three then settling for the one just my opinion
