In theory he should be pretty motivated to sell it considering the fact that the 2018s are out, however I get the impression it's not a big Corvette dealer as only small ones would still have a 2016 this long. I have seen some small dealers up here that have new Corvettes that old and they still expect to get MSRP for it, they are that clueless, and then they wonder why the car sits on their lot for so long.
Minimum you should get off this should be 15% (although I'd push for 20%!) If they won't come close to that, look elsewhere. You can probably get a new 2017 from a big dealer like Criswell for a better price.

At least 20% off if not more. Car is a year old leftover with the 2018 already hitting the streets so technically it's almost a 2 year leftover. Last December dealerships that had 2016 corvettes were offering 20% off and that was over 7 months ago and way before the 2018 hit the streets. If anything just wait a few months and you can easily pick up a 2017 for 20% off.

I'd push for 20-25% off. As soon as you drive it off the lot it's a two year old car.

You just need to be comfortable with your walk away price. There are many dealers out there that just aren't going to budge There was a dealer recently that had a brand new 2012 ZR1 for sale with a crazy high price on it....there was a reason why they still had a 2012 new car on their lot, they simply were not willing to budge....

The biggest problem advising anyone on prices is the size of the dealership, and the amount of Vette's they sell in a year, and even the region the dealer is located. That has a lot to with the "incentive to dealers" that GM allows, ex: Kerbeck sells a ton of Vette's therefore they receive better prices on the cars they order.
I will say good luck, and I hope the deal works out to your advantage.

No less than 20% remind them it is 2 model years old now and forum dealers sell brand new 2018's for well below MSRP.

and don't forget....
......unless you have another dealer in mind for maintenance/repairs, this (small) dealership will handle post-purchase needs, are they up to that (with a Vette)?
