Asking the community for help on deciding what car to get. The car will be a weekend toy. Occasional car show, long drive, and a 1/4 mile track 2-3 times a year. Any advice and opinion welcome good or bad lol. Thanks.
1) 2015 ZL1 A6 convertible, 3,400 senior driven country miles. $45,600 from a dealer, certified pre-owned. Pristine condition
2) 2017 Corvette A8, 1lt, performance exhaust, Brand New, $49,735
I have to make a decision by tomorrow because I'm picking one of them up Saturday morning! HELP!!!
I've owned both platforms. C7 hands down. Unless you find the C7 uncomfortable. The gen 5 Camaro is a big girl and very comfortable. The C7 is light years ahead everywhere but size.

The A8 trans continues to have issues. The M7 is my personal choice and saves about $1800. The last time I checked used M7 equipped cars they were going for the same price as the automatics.
Price is O.K. on the C7, but not spectacular, depending how the car is equipped. Might check with Les Stanford and other forum dealers.
My recommendation is to get behind the wheel of each and try them out. My dad has been a camaro guy his whole life and now has a Z06, his first corvette, in addition to a camaro that you are describing. He is 64 fwiw. The sizes of the vehicles are very different which means little things like getting in and out or big things like handling are very different. You will have fun on the tracks or car shows with each. The corvette community is amazing and no other way to be apart of it face to face without one. Anyone can be on the forum but the comrade at shows and events is amazing. Sames things probably exist for camaros too but haven't experienced them myself because I don't have one. Blower cars are a blast and no reason not to supercharge the corvette long term if you want more power. 4 seater vs 2 seater if you have kids or grandkids. If the roads are rough where you live that might be a consideration for the camaro. It is much closer to a 4x4
And not to hI jack your post, but if you like the feel of the camaro better than the corvette, do yourself a favor and test drive a CTS-V. I absolutely love my V. You can pick up a low mile 2013 or 14 for less money and spend a couple grand on pulleys headers and tuning and she will pull away from both options you are considering, easily. My favorite is finding a Hellcat when in the V. And it's a cadillac so comfort is superior. Just my opinion. Good luck! Exciting stuff what you aware considerING :-)

Reason: Merged Posts
IMO, 6th gen ZL1 is improved to the point that I don't think I could invest in the old one. '15 ZL1 will attract more interest than a C7 at a big car show though. At big car shows at least, everyone and their mother shows up with a Corvette.
As far as the C7? It's an A8. I wouldn't buy anything with that trans. It's the better choice of the two until the torque converter fails, possibly throwing you into a vicious circle of dealership visits trying to fix broken C7.
that price sucks ***. Picked up a 2LT A8 16 back in july of 15 for 56k.
wanna know where, message me. they are very well known.
Don't let the few that come on here dissuade you from getting the A8, fact is there are a few with problems, and tens of thousands with no issue at all.

Almost same exact situation. I really hate dealers. I know the easiest way to buy is just pay whatever the dealer wants, but I'm trying not to get hosed out of several thousand dollars that could go to other things.
I am really down to a couple A8 2LTs, would really love a GS and could live with an A8 1LT, but wife likes the car too but really wants the creature comforts the 2LT provides. Most of the deeper discounting dealers are out of state and would hate to go see a car only to realize they start peeling back all the "discounts" they advertise on the web. I am also busy during the day, so it's rare I have time to just shop around.
I also have a trade but I think it's probably best to keep it all separate.
The two cars are as different as night, and day my friend. I suggest to drive them both, and go with your gut. All of our advise isn't worth a hill of beans as you're the only one that decide what you like best.
And as macdizzle said, don't let the A8 haters dissuade you. It does have it's quirks, and I'm sure everyone that has one will attest to that. But mine has been fine.

Drive both cars and do your due-diligence. In the end, if all other factors are equal, buy the one that speaks to you. It sucks to stroke a check each month to pay for something that doesn't speak to your heart.
Yeah you gotta drive them both. Two very different cars. I would also look into a new 6th Gen Camaro SS 1LE car... Should be in your price range after discounts. I would take that over a used 5th gen ZL1.

OP, either would be a great choice...personally, I'd choose the C7. With respect to price you quoted, that's very fair and is about 16% off MSRP which at this time is very competitive. People have gotten more off in the past, but those red tag deals don't seem to be available this month.

It doesn't matter what you paid then. The incentives that GM is offering is less now than in previous months and years because they are shutting the plant down for at least 3 months. Looking at main forum vendors his quoted price is right inline for a 2017/18 A8 with NPP. Even if he saves a another thousand or two he would have to deal with buying out of state and potentially shipping.
All depends on if you had a dream to one day on the Corvette? If so then maybe you should look for a Corvette convertible considering you're looking at a Camaro convertible? Out of the two it would be difficult for us to give you anything on either cuz we don't know you. Me personally out of the both of those cars I would take the ZL1 convertible because it's more unique than just a basic C7 how many ZL1 Convertibles were made?
you say weekend toy car show maybe around the quarter mile a couple times? Basic Corvette is cool it all those things but a ZL1 convertible who's going to be more unique. My only problem with the generation 5 Camaro is that the Generation 6 is out a whole other level. I would rather have a gen-6 SS convertible than a Gen 5 ZL1 convertible that's just me. Now if you want to step into the Corvette Arena I'd rather have a Stingray convertible over either of those two cars or even a gen-6 convertible non ZL1 because then you're up into the Grand Sport ZO6 convertible argument.
and just some friendly advice I've learned in life never rush to purchase something like that there's plenty to choose from and even if you had to pay a couple pennies more last thing you want is buyer's remorse cuz you'll take it hard if you want out quick
I have a large frame. I am 52, 5'10", 280lbs and still power lift 4 times a week. My back was tortured in a 6th gen zl1 with the small recaro seats. Not an option for me. Also I neglected to mention I have a 50k budget, ruling out a Z06 or C7 vert. I never owned a vert. But the roof comes off the vette so its close enough. The camaro is a 2 seater. Rear seats can not be used for anyone over 3 years old lol.
