c5z->c7gs
Who has gone c5z->c7gs
impressions?
I test drove a c7gs (7spd manual trans) and the removable top, better interior, etc are obvious improvements. However, my butt dyno seemed to think my stock '04 c5z felt faster on the street. Not sure if it actually is or not; could just be my Corsa exhaust on my c5z paired with c5z's shorter gearing that comes across faster when driving on street.
I'm sure on a track the c7gs is way better than c5z but on the street it didnt feel faster
impressions?

If you hammer it and take it to high rpms you will feel a bit more power than the C5 z.
Grip and braking is where it's completely night and day. GS is like no other in that department.

Idk what I should do.. right now I have '00 z28 (my "beater") and '04 z06. Ideally I'd like to sell both and have a JLU (JLU wrangler is next gen 4 door wrangler about to come out) wrangler (to take over beater duties) and a c7gs (or c7z).
I DD my c5z to work and just about everywhere except for places with terrible parking (I live in LA). if I'm going somewhere with bad parking I take the camaro.
So idk what I should do. if I should buy a brand new JLU wrangler next year because they don't depreciate.. and then ~2 years later sell my c5z for $23k ish and buy a used c7z, used c7gs, or a new c7gs. If c7 follows c6 history, the c6gs did not really depreciate nearly as fast as the base models. So I'm assuming used c7gs will not really be that much cheaper than new ones.
It's just hard for me to justify selling my c5z for say $23k and then spending $70k on a marginally better street performer. Obviously yes the interior is way nicer quality and I do like the removable roof but still. With that line of thought, makes me feel like buying a used c7z for the same $$. But then I don't wanna deal with long term issues with the motor. Im concerned with the long term reliability of the motor since it's supercharged. I am not worried about the c7gs LT1 tho, I'm sure that would prove to be a reliable motor. I try to only buy cars that have bulletproof motors and I keep the car for a long time.. LS1 in my camaro and LS6 in the c5z are completely bulletproof trouble free motors and have been good to me with no issues
So many choices to pick from.. idk what I should do.

Safety Car
I still feel my 2001 C5Z06 was the best Corvette I have ever owned. The car was so neutral at crazy speeds that it was just amazing. Only 385 crank hp but still incredibly responsive and you didn't have to worry so much about overpowering the rear tires so it was very easy to drive very fast.
The C6Z was far more powerful but didn't handle as well at the limit. The C7Z obviously is a beast but needs a bit more attention to throttle position to avoid blowing off the tires. Love the new car, but still all in all, my C5Z still was my favorite.
