We seem to be in that last vestige of the old horse trading game. If the buyer doesn't see the horse is lame, the seller isn't going to divulge this. And yet.....one jack into the obdc? and poof, you can see how fast the car has been driven, the way the car has been driven, etc, etc. And yet....not one dealer is offering this printout with the cars, even the Certified Pre-Owned cars they state "as new"

Car Fax will tell you everything, unless the accident wasn't reported to the police and the car was not repaired on the insurance dime.

Would you rather have a used car driven a 1000 miles in a salt and brine use for public roads state, or a used car with 5000 miles driven only in Arizona?

How about a two year old car with 5000 miles, driven as a dd to work in a major metropolitan area: stop, stop stop stop and then go 500 feet before you stop again driving? They also wear out who only idle and wait.

Would you like a used Florida car where 1 or 2 inches of rain in a storm is commonplace from June-December? Or a used car in a state where the dealers regularly have "hail of a sale" offerings on NEW cars in the spring and summer?

low miles is a real attractive hook, but there can be more to the story.

And with a new car, there is no story. It could be the biggest lemon on the planet.

There is a 2016 Long Beach Red 1LT coupe for sale at a dealer in Toronto that has only 537km on it (333 miles!) The price is $63,988 CDN but you could get an almost identical brand new 2018 for only $2000 more (the 2018 comes with the Z51 wheels standard now vs the 18/19s on this 2016, making the 2018 even more attractive of a deal). I'd be worried about why that car sat for such long periods of time, and two years of it's warranty is already gone too. That car is actually the least expensive 2015-2016 automatic coupe advertised in Auto Trader in the province too.

As I've said before, I've saved a ton of money by going with used Corvettes for my C4, C5 and C6, but it's a whole different ballgame with the C7 in Canada since it's just not a big spread from used to new just yet.
