Default Remote vehicle start

My 2016 came with the remote vehicle start and I am curious. The remote start works fine, but when I enter the car,I have to shut it off and restart it to move the gear shift into reverse or any other gear.Is this normal? Thanks for any replys,Rod

Well, I get in, put my foot on the brake, Press the START button, this moves the seat into position and I'm ready to drive off WITHOUT restarting the car.

Brake pedal and start button are your friend - while the owners manual may be quicker solution and your BEST FRIEND!

^^^This. If you hit the start button without your foot on the break, you'll just shut off the car.

Like a couple other folks have said, put your foot on the brake, push the start button, and let the good times roll. I'm glad you posted this. I forget about the remote start button sometimes. That's the only way I can hear that great sound. I'm gonna try and remember it later today.

I activate the remote vehicle starter, enter the car, depress the brake pedal, but the car won't allow me to put the shifter into reverse or any other gear. I shut the engine off and restart the vehicle with my foot on the brake and it works normal. Hope my explanation is clearer.thanks guys,Rod

Starting the Engine Using Remote
Start
1. Press and release Q on the
RKE transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold /
for at least four seconds or until
the turn signal lamps flash. The
lamps flash to confirm the
request to remote start the
vehicle has been received.
During the remote start, the
doors will be locked and the
parking lamps will remain on as
long as the engine is running.
The engine will shut off after
10 minutes unless a time
extension is done.
3. Press the brake pedal and select
the ON/RUN/START
ignition mode.

From the owner's manual.

Don't try to put it in gear until you've hit the start button with your foot on the brake

From the owner's manual.
Isn't it great to read the owners manual! I wondered why they even bothered to print it and give us one. Wow, who would have thought you could find out how to operate the vehicle??

Wasn't trying to flog you at all. Just a pet peeve of mine. All is good.
I just grow very tired of so many not reading and asking questions to obvious answers.

eboggs is correct.... seems strange hitting the "Start" button while the car is running (and you're not wanting to shut it off), but you'll get used to it. It's a safety/anti-theft feature so that the correct fob has to be in the driver's seat before the car can be moved.

"Q"???? My RKE doesn't have a Q on it. It does have a circular arrow that is pushed for remote start, however. Car will not remote start unless locked.

"Q" & "/" are symbols in the owner's manual that did not copy and paste. I was too lazy to screen capture the information so the pretty pictures showed.

So, since you need pictures, here ya go!
