Default Mirror Adjustment

I have read the owners manual. I have gone on You Tube and watched the Ginger girl video on how to set memory for mirrors, seat ,steering wheel and exiting memory. All works BUT when I start up car passenger mirror moves further out and down than what was set in memory. Similar to having your reverse mirror adjustment on, which it is set in the off position. I have tried resetting memory for seats ,mirror quite a few times with no luck .I also tried turning on and off reverse mirror adjustment setting a few times . So is that I'm missing a step or possible the mirror is bad . Also after car is started and I reset passenger mirror to were I want it ,it will stay there until car is turned off and restarted. I'm due for my 500 mile oil change next week so I could have dealer check then , Just hoping it' me being dumb and missing a step and not needing dealer to mess with car. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Dave

two ways to 'fix' this..... 1) use the other fob 2) set both presets the same

I will give fob 2 a try I have been using fob 1 all the time. When you say set both presets the same . Are you referring to seat mirror steering and exit, If so I have them set the same .That is why I'm having trouble figuring out why passenger mirror moves to the wrong position or do you mean set both fobs for the same position for seat mirror steering wheel and exit. Thanks for helping me out. Dave

the fob would trigger which setting 1 or 2. with the car running. if you hit (press and let go) and then hold down the number you want to set until it chimes. then it should be set. so lets say you programmed #1 all you need to do to test it is move your seat a few inches and hit 1 and see if it goes to where you put it.

next I'll assume your exit is different than your 1 or 2 setting. so shut it off and open the door. exit should take over (make sure you check your setting options for this on when the exit takes effect) .... get out close the door walk away then come back get in and start. it should go back to setting 1 (assuming you have fob 1) .

I'll be curious as to your results

The car recognizes which fob on startup. Look in the DIC to see which one you're using

Where does the DIC show which fob is being sensed?

I'm getting the correct seat, wheel and driver side mirror when starting and exiting with the exception of the passenger side. When starting the passenger mirror goes out farther and down every thing else works great. So I think I have the set process correct . Just a problem with passenger mirror. I will reset using both fobs tomorrow unable to do tonight.

What is the distance car will pick up fob ?

and you aren't in reverse (assuming stick not auto) ? I'd say that because an option is to have it point down in reverse ..... otherwise then it's time to use the warranty on that circuit....probably the computer not the mirror

Mirror auto reverse is off and I went and turn that feature on and off hoping it was just stuck on. I will reset both fobs again for one more try tomorrow. I will post results . If not I will have dealer check when I have 500 mile oil change. Thanks for your help. Dave

it's not controlled by the fob only which setting it uses. resetting won't matter. the program is onboard. just take it in.

Things I have done to fix any issue with the seat/mirrors and steering wheel position.

7M, the car MUST have the parking brake set, or they won't go to your preset position.

Once you have it set to your memory positions. Manually move your seat and steering wheel to your preferred exit position. Don't adjust the mirrors. Once set to your exit position, save it using the buttons on the door.

Now, if you forget to leave the car with the parking brake set, only the steering wheel and seat have moved. The mirrors stayed at their setting.

I have a '17 GS as your profile says you do but I can't see any indicator. When does it get displayed? Before, during or after seats and mirrors are adjusted? Before or after engine is started? Any particular display in any particular driving mode?

Thanks.

ALL SET . I went and used the restore to factory setting. After car was restored to factory settings I used fob 1 and set my seat, steering wheel, mirrors memory and then set exit memory. I did the same for fob 2 and every thing is working great. Thanks to all that helped. Dave

If you always use the same fob, it stops telling you.

Grab your other fob and start the car, it'll tell you the fob number in the center of the tach.

that's some pretty fragile memory.... but it worked.

I assume that the reset didn't mess with xm etc?
