Seat Wear
My car is almost 3 years old, its a 15 that was delivered in September 2014. I just had my drivers seat repaired. It had a slice and wear on the lower drivers side edge. The person doing the repair said it was all caused me getting in and out of the car. I thought I was really careful but obviously I wasn't.
Is anyone else having or had this problem ?

Even the way the video shows it, you may avoid wear on the side bolster, but pivoting in the seat will also cause extra wear on the seat bottom.
I usually hold the steering wheel, put my right leg in, then bend on my left leg and swing over and into the seat without even touching the side of the seat. This also puts me facing forward so I don't have to pivot once I am in the seat.
Getting out is a little harder, so sometimes I do swing both legs out, then just stand up to exit.

Honest question... do you wear jeans a lot, and do you have the easy-exit feature engaged? If you're constantly rubbing against the bolster getting in and out (especially wearing more abrasive fabrics) then yes, you'll have seat wear.

I also have a 15. Bought new in December. 12,000 plus miles. Seats look brand spanking new. I always wear jeans/Levi 501. I'm 5'11", and weigh 190 lbs. Never needed a video to teach me how to enter a car. Are you a little bit on the heavy side. Maybe you should think about getting a seat cover. They have some pretty good ones for vettes. Good luck...

A Corvette is a sports car....getting in and out is not like the family sedan, SUV or Pickup truck. Having said that....GM should have had a little extra leather where the normal wear spots would be. Even with the "BEST" way to get in and out your are going to have wear on the seat. JMO

Actually you can get in without causing wear on the side bolster just by placing your left hand on the seat before you sit down. Use your left hand to keep your body away from the bolster as you sit. Works like a champ and once down twisting your legs inward doesn't wear the seat bottom. For 30 years now I have prevented myself from wearing out the seat skins on my 86. 97, 03 and 08 models by doing this. It isn't about using better or tougher leather. Adding extra leather doesn't stop the abrasion and I suspect that even the toughest boot leather available would be hard pressed to take the abuse.
