Back fire - loud
I was messing around with a friend of mine last night (not racing - just screwing around - boys will be boys LOL) side by side with his modded "Rat F-Body Mustang". I was in Track Mode 50/55 mph stabbing the throttle going in and out of "Performance Shift Active" (A8) on the DIC. On about the third cycle I slowed down just a bit and popped back into 2ond gear at about 40/45 and stabbed the throttle about 3/4 and it back-fired through the exhaust with a really-really LOUD BANG!! just as it pulled the nose up. I could feel it in the floor!! My friend put his window down and yelled over asking if I broke something?
Self induced stupidity -- won't be doing that again!!
Just thought I'd put it out here for what it's worth, as in my opinion the cat removal must allow a lot more un-burned fuel build up in the exhaust.
This was a backfire. Reminded me of way-way back when were kids and used to take manual trans second gear up to high RPM then shut the key off and coast back down for a few seconds; then turn the key back to "on" position. Sometimes the backfire would sound like the back of the car was coming off - and LOL sometimes if would blow a pipe or muffler off - LOL We figure so what, now we have straight pipes
