In fact my 2014 C7 Z51 without mag shocks had the same moderately stiff suspension in all settings. Nothing to change the ride. That said it did have high performance Bilstein shocks, 45 mm diameter. Like any quality shock it has valuing that does vary control depending on the rate of change in wheel movement. So do the smaller 36 mm diameter shocks in the base car.
What does change is the fly-by-wire throttle response, steering stiffness (not ratio just amount of assist,) traction control settings, and if you have NPP the rpm the exhaust valves open.
When below 45 F I always used weather setting in my 2014 Z51 and will in my new Grand Sport. With the reduced tire traction it puts the "nannies" in sooner.
There is a table in the Owner's Manual that defines what changes with each setting.
When you switch the driving mode to Touring on the base Stingray how is that changing the ride quality. Exactly what is taking place. Thanks...
If you do have the mag shock option then the ride control is much different. There are 4 small positon sensors on lower "A" frame, one on each. You can see the spindly arms. They and other input provide feedback to each shock. The shock uses a ferro fluid instead of simple oil. That "suff" has been around for a long time but needed fast computer control to provide the instant change in shock performance now available for the C7. The C7 shocks use two electro magnets per shock that can change the fluid viscosity almost instantly. Viscosity is not constant like a conventional shock it can be infinitely varied! Using all the sensors and other input it does that hundreds of times per second as you drive!
Not only is that changing the shock performance with mode settings, it's changing each shock as you corner, accelerate, brake or when one wheel hits a bump!
Aren't fast, cheap computer chips and technology amazing!
Brother Dave, we lowly base non-mag ride owner have to live with the same ride all the time. Don't cha just love it though. My C7 without actually rides better than my previous C6 with.
Disclaimer: I do understand that GM has improved the mag ride system in the C7's. But, I'm happy happy happy with what I have.

No changes take place suspension-wise w/o MSRC. It does change the displays, throttle mapping, steering, and NPP flap position (if equipped).
It is probably the "softest" of all the suspensions, including MSRC in Tour, which some love and some don't But, even though it's a bit softer doesn't mean it isn't very capable . . . it is compared to most everything else on the road.

Agreed. The base corvette still is a great balance of power and handling. In it's price range, out handles Mustangs, Challengers, Cameros etc. in the muscle category and has more power than the smaller sports cars that may handle better. For me, delivers the balance of what I want, at a reasonable price. Not for everyone, but the right balance for me.
I have Base suspension with Mag shocks.. (MSRC)
Use Touring mode when wifey is along for the ride, with 0 complaints.
Sport when its just me!
If its in Sport mode and shes in the car, she can definitely tell.
More bumpy in her words...And she tells me to change the setting,,
So, MSRC definitely works
I have the base with no mag ride and I don't really notice any changes at all when I switch driving modes.
I've been quite complacent, and haven't even tried the different modes on mine. I would think though if you put it in sport, or track the trans would act accordingly. Not that it would matter to me as there's no place around me to try that anyway.

With my none mag shock Z51 was a big difference when it was below 45 F when I used weather versus my normal sport. Will do the same with my Grand Sport when temp drops.
Should feel a difference is steering force from Touring to Track. Unless you have it set to Sport all the time as I do.
You won't notice a difference in ride as without mag shocks nothing changes!
