Default Vert dumping water

Anyone that's had their vert for a few years have any problem with rain water being dumped into the trunk area when you lower the top? This has happened to me twice in the past week where it rained earlier, clear now, and I open the top and it dumps the rain water off the top cover into the trunk area. I'm thinking, oh-no, here comes mold and mildew. Anyone have any negative repercussions or does the water just evaporate and all is well???

The manual says you should not lower the top when it is wet. Are you trying to store a soaking wet top? Wait until the top is dry before you put it down or mold and wrinkles will likely follow.

Yeah, drive it for 15 minutes and then put it down...

Only for the 20 minute drive home and then I raise it back up to dry.

Yes, 100% of every convertible ever built would transfer water and moisture into the top storage area if a wet top is retracted. It's an owner problem, not the car. Don't do it.

That's some title you chose there, "Vert Dumping Water."

What is this "rain water" that you speak of?

Besides being 52 days straight (a new record) without rain, I don't drive mine in the rain anyway, but I was taught never to lower and stow the top when it was wet anyway because it would "rot" or grow milder or some other bad mojo like that.

Best to let it dry first, I think.

I've noticed after a wash there is a significant amount of water in the "wells" on both sides of the trunk when it is open. It takes a whole rag to sop it all up, which I always do. If you don't take care of it that much water will sit for days before it evaporates.

Yeah, mine's a DD here in Tennessee. I guess I feel kinda stupid, but I'm coming from a C6. On that one, it dumps all the water back onto the trunk, no harm done. If I walk out and see a blue sky, my habit is to put the top down and not to check the deck lid for water I'll have to change my habits...
