As many of you know, sales people at most dealerships know very little if nothing about the Corvettes they sell. I would like to know how the AFM functions in a Corvette with the A8 transmission. Is the AFM only activated in ECO and TOURING modes or is it ALWAYS active if the car has an A8 transmission? Logic would tell me that it would not be active in SPORT or TRACK mode, but these sales people have no clue.
The AFM with the A8 is always active unless you are in M and using the paddle shifters. The way to defeat this is to get the Range AFM Disabler. Use this with a ODB port extension with a on/off switch and you have control over when you want to disable the AFM.
The interesting thing is that some people report better gas mileage with AFM disabled.
I have only had my Range Disabler for a couple days but it is nice being able to turn off AFM for city driving.
