Well it finally happened. Too many runs on Route 81..... a rock busted my windshield. I suppose my insurance company will only pay for a Safelite or other aftermarket windshield. Anybody have any thoughts on whether it's worth paying the extra money for a factory windshield? Anybody have any nightmare stories or recommendations for installers in Northern Virginia or the DC area? I have the HUD, of course (2016 3LZ). I was thinking of taking it to Criswell and let them handle the windshield, and also correct a misaligned speaker grill....

I hate I-81. it is so bad that I've been taking backroads between Blacksburg and NoVA, even though it adds 1-2 hours onto a 4 hour drive. Good luck with your replacement.
I'm in the same boat, and scheduled to have mine replaced a week from tomorrow at a safelite location. My comp deductible is $1000, so I'm going with the safelite installer's recommendation for aftermarket glass rather than oem. He said he has one on hand that was inspected and was perfect. He told me they have done quite a few c7 windshield replacements, has the same replacement on his vette, and assigned his top 2 installers to do the job. I was quoted $771 with installation. They also provide a lifetime warranty for free replacement of any defective glass, such as stress crack formation, or water leaking, for example. I did watch a YouTube video on c7 front glass replacement and told the guy at safelite it made me a bit nervous how much trim had to be removed and reinstalled, but he assured me they have done many of these and the job would come out perfect. Time will tell....
Holy Fark!!! $1,000!!! Florida has front glass replacement for situations like that and the insurance company pays the full cost AND there is no deductible action at all.
