Default Vert SmarTOP Module Owners-Firmware Update Released

Mods4Cars notified me today that there's an updated firmware version for the C7 SmartTOP module available for download from their website. The new version adds some functions and features. Several other forum members and I have been testing the update over the last several weeks and it's been working flawlessly.

For those who don't know, SmartTop is a control module for C7 convertibles. It allows you to open/close the top and windows with one touch of the dash or key fob buttons so you don't have to hold the button down the entire time. It also works at quite a distance with the key fob so the top is down by the time you get to your car. Highly recommended.

Not sure how much it is, but I've only used the key fob to open/close my vert top maybe 3 times, & that's just to show if off when I just bought my C7 3 yrs ago, & haven't used it yet.
I do 6 - 8 cycles of up/down on the vert, but only when I'm in the car.

New software gives 3 beeps when you've correctly pressed your FOB It has other features that are good. I've updated as I was part of the testing. It won't hurt and you might like it!

A couple of things I didn't like about "factory" were that you can't close the top from the key fob and you have to put the windows up manually after sitting there while the top closes. SmartTop handles both those functions automatically with a single press of the dash button or key fob. I realize it's not cheap or for everybody, but I could never go back to OEM.

Thanks for the heads-up! Smarttop is by far my favorite mod yet. I use it 3 times a day! Fun to exit the car and have the top and windows go up is great. And single-touch inside the car is a huge improvement. By the way, is there a list of changes anywhere?

Thanks for the heads-up.
Installed the 2.0 version and I really like the 3x push door button function.

Sounds pretty cool, where does one find a Smart Top???

Never mind, Google found it. Deciding if it's worth the cost of admission. Spendy little module...

^^ Agree! Regarding pricing--it's all relative . . . I mean $595 for painted calipers? $395 for red stitching? $395 for red seatbelts? Initial price is perhaps high, but when you use it 3 times a day you really appreciate it! Plus it got me away from the annoyance factor of the remote top down stopping 1/2 way if there was any interference or if I slipped off the button . .

I don't see a change list on their website, but if you compare the functions/settings matrix from the operation manual and compare it to the old one (assuming you have a copy), you can see what's been added.

Did my update this morning. Went as smooth as could be. Took about 5 minutes. It will take a lot longer to learn all the new features.

Just had hip replacement so no driving for awhile, but sounds like a job for my son.

Just a couple are that you can lower or raise the top by holding the lock or unlock button as before or you can set it for three taps. You can also lower or raise by the rubber touch pad that you open the door with. Go to site and download the instruction manual and see all the features.

There's also a new function to give 3 warning beeps before the top open/close process starts when the process is triggered from the key fob or door handle.

I've got my functions/settings programmed as follows:

1:2, 2:1, 3:3, 4:2, 5:0, 6:0

You've never used your factory key fob to close the top, because the factory system doesn't support that.

To me, the biggest advantage isn't the remoted top up / down, it's that the SmartTop eliminates the need to hold the dash button (or remote button) down for 20 seconds to open or close the top. Press the switch, then go about your business. If you do it while driving, you can keep both hands on the wheel shift normally. If you do it while stopped, you can put on your seat belt, sunglasses, etc., while the top operates. Maybe best of all, you can start the top up cycle and then get out of the car, lock the door and walk away. The top will continue to close, and the windows close, without you having to wait for it.

Definitely a convenience, and not a necessity, but the Corvette itself isn't a necessity. People spend a lot more on mods that are just cosmetic, and offer no function at all.

It's $439, which includes a Window Valet module. They've got a 5% discount code on their website now.

Top operation with the remote fob using HOLD:
• Hold lock down for about 4 sec, let go and tap close again briefly: Close only the top while leaving the windows down.

My windows dont stay down :-(
Could you close only the top?

You might have something programed wrong. Check the matrix. It can be confusing.
