Does buying used from different manufacturer affect warranty?

Does buying used from different manufacturer affect warranty?
Looking at picking up a 2015 I found used at a Mazda dealership and the advertisement states it still has the factory warranty. Would purchasing from a third party dealer present any warranty issue should the need for warranty work arise? Aside from getting it in writing, anything else I should look for? How could I go about finding the vehicles service history? Thank you in advance.

If it has a warranty it will be transferred to you. Get the VIN and call GM to be sure the warranty is good.

Your best bet is to take the car to a Chevrolet dealer and pay for a pre-purchase inspection. They will look over the car for issues as well as the service history if you ask them.
Doesn't matter where you buy the car, the manufacturer's warranty follows it. Dealerships only affiliation with a manufacturer is the authorization to sell and service that brand.

I think the most important thing is running the VIN through the GMVIS to see if there are any warranty blocks. You don't wanna find out it's a driving school car right after the engine blows up.

Auction prices for used C7s with miles are pretty attractive for used car dealers. They should try and move them before winter arrives unless they are in Florida or CA. Tell your local Chevy dealer you are looking for someone to service a C7 and then ask them to run VIN to confirm it's history and warranty status.

Single guy making good money treats himself to a Corvette, calls it the "panty dropper".
Well, some panties dropped and now he has a wife, kid on the way and getting a mortgage. Vette has to go, and here comes the cross-over, (what we used to call station wagons). I'm sure it happens all the time. lol

Previous owner had purchased it then had an accident at work and broke his back, could no longer push the clutch or get in and out. Traded for the big hyundai sedan. Up until a plug wire failure at 27,000 miles, no issues.

The biggest threat of buying used and concerned about warranty is a tuned ECM. Plenty of threads about used purchases and warranty work being denied when a tune was detected. PPI at a chevy dealer and have them confirm factory tune.

You need to ensure that the car in fact has a warranty still active - it originally was a five year, 100K mile warranty on a '15 and it has to be getting close to being expired if not so already. A Chevy dealer can verify the warranty end date. If it does have a factory warranty remaining, it will transfer to you as a new owner.

The OP had a question in 8 of 2017, hopefully long before now he got a answer!
