Default What's this car worth?

Howdy!

Grt out your crystal *****. I'm inquiring at a dealer in SoCal about the following new car:

2016 3LT non-Z51
Magnetic Ride
Battery protection
Auto
19/20" Black Aluminum Wheels

It does not have NPP. It's Blade Silver/Jet Black
MSRP $71,995
Currently listed at $66,200

What is the price that would make sense on this car, considering it has sat for a couple years and is a little oddly optioned. (3LT but no NPP??)

Thanks!

Seems a bit high to me. I bought my 2016 Stingray (non-Z51, non-magnetic ride), 2LT, A8 Corvette about 1.5 years ago and paid 5K less for it then that. I know the one you mentioned is a 3LT with Magnetic Ride, but it is 2 model years old already. The TrueCar average in your area for a similarly equipped 2017 is about $67K. Hope this helps some.

Mileage? We can't provide an accurate estimate without mileage.

It's new. Zero. (okay, maybe like 2 or 6 but effectively, zero)

Unless the values are a lot different on the left coast, the most recent Mannheim Auction figures will tell you what the ACV wholesale value is. This is what you can expect on a trade. Retailing it yourself should be higher if you can find a buyer with the money.

That price is a joke. I paid way less for a new 2017 GS 2LT, with NAV/PDR, and several other options. A two year old Stingray should be about $55K.

WAY too high. You can easily get a 17 or 18 for 12-13% off MSRP, which is less than their listing by far. Yeah, i get it; no miles, but still, they're trying to sell you a two year old car for more than a brand new one. Check out the forum dealers for much better pricing.

A Dealer with a 16 still on the lot, after GM gave them a BIG reduction incentive in early 2017 to clear it, is a Dealer who is quite happy to leave it on the lot, at his price, until it rusts away. your desire to save this shelter dog for a great price, is a pipe dream. plenty other guys have been in to the dealership with the same dream in their mind. car still there, case closed.

Well, to be fair, they're not pressuring me. I'm just starting to sniff around the leftover '16s to see what I find. I made a single call, and asked what the real price is, and told the gentlemen at $66k, it's going to be a keeper.

I just started with the unloved '16 closest to home. If'n none of the '16 leftovers end up coming home with me, I'll take a '17 or '18.

I'm just trying to be a little creative.

To me, the car should be about 25% off MSRP to make it worthwhile. After all, it's sat there this long, probably based on their weird optioning. The sales guy told me it was not ordered for a specific person, they just ordered it that way for whatever inexplicable reason. How many 3LT's don't have NPP??

$51,000 but I honestly would want the NPP! Good luck.

I don't know about getting as much as 25% off, but I'd agree that you should be getting at least 20% off. I'm sure by now you went on line to Autotrader and noticed that many of the dealers with 2016 C7s are asking for less than 10% off to as much as full MSRP. It's crazy when you can buy a 2017 for less than a 2016. I would guess that less than 10% of the dealers stuck with 2016s are aggressively pricing them to sell them before the end of this year. How about the handful of brand new 2015s out there! Yeah, that's a shocker. I even found a new 2014 in NJ. They want full MSRP. Crazy.
EDIT: I just re-read your first post. That car does not have NPP. I wish them lots of luck trying to sell that one. A local dealer who is one of the top 15 Corvette dealers had a 2014 Vert, loaded, but no NPP. Took them almost 2 years to unload that thing despite offering a large discount.

I bought a new 2016 Stingray at a dealer in Burbank in 12-16. Found it on the internet. Loaded 3LT Black/Black, the big Chrome wheels, spoiler, exhaust, magnetic control, etc. The sticker price was $75k, price was 57k. Almost 25% off MSRP.

I would think nearly 9 months into 2017 you should get a better price than what you're being offered.

Hope this helps.

You can go to kbb.com and price out a new 2016. I don't know all of the options that are on the one that you are looking at, but according to KBB, that price is pretty much in line.

The sad part is, you can get a 2017 or 18 with current incentives for that or less.

I paid 63k for my new 2017 Z51 2LT with Mag and Nav. MSRP was just under 73k with 13% off in dealer incentives and discounts.

I'd keep shopping. You'll take a major depreciation hit when you drive that '16 off the lot.

I'd say it's at least $10k overpriced, perhaps more. Mine stickered at $72, I paid $56 last October.

Just thought I'd add that, if you're looking on line, the cars.com app on my phone was giving asking price and MSRP but my iPad only had the asking price.

If it were a used 2016 with those options and 1,000 miles on it (they do exist), it would sell for $54-55k.
I wouldn't spend more than $56k for a two year old new car.

If you were to keep this 2016 for say 3 years, at that time in 2020, your car would be worth about the same or possibly more than someone else's identical 2017, depending on mileage.

Many 2017s have been on the road for 6-12 months already, so many 2017s will have more miles on them than your 2016, now and 3 years from now, unless you plan on driving the car a ton of miles.

The point being, you would have an extremely low mileage 2016 when the time comes to sell it, so the additional year of depreciation a 2016 has over a 2017 is minimized.

In negotiating the purchase price now, I'd pound the dealer about it having NO NPP. Make sure they know YOU KNOW that this is a highly demanded option that almost all C7s have, and you will need to spend a couple thousand after purchase to put a better exhaust on it, so you can enjoy the car properly, and so THAT IT IS SALABLE WHEN THE TIME COMES FOR YOU TO SELL IT SOME DAY.
