Deferred gratification. j/k You really do know why, I'm sure.
If a dealer can sell a $65K Corvette instead of a $55K Corvette, which do you think they'd rather sell? Which would YOU rather sell if you owned that dealership?
Click bait title. Order the car from the factory with just the options you want. Buy from a forum dealer for AT LEAST 10% off (maybe more.) Problem solved (come December or so.)
Not a click bait item. Really wondering why. Its either a 1LT 7SP with nothing, 2LT goes straight to 70+. Nearest to me has an 82K. Yes ordering it is an option if I want to pay a higher price.
I have been watching the forum dealers though. Just a bit impatient.
For the most part, the volume dealers go with what sells. I know in my case, the car I dreamed about for years wasn't a stripper model. I was buying a Vette, I wanted ALL of the goodies! I didn't wait years to buy a car that didn't have almost every option. I wanted the whole shebang. People looking for a vette that they are just going to race, get a 1LT. Most get a nicely equipped 2LT or 3LT. The rest order to their liking.

Well stated, my feelings exactly. Drove many POS cars in my life and now I like all the features. I could do with almost all of them but why not? Guess I'd rather have a loaded, cheaper model car than an expensive stripped one. For track use, stripper for sure. All what you like.
I bought mine end of last year and I found the small dealers had the loaded ones when they only could have 2 or 3 on a lot, but the volume dealers (where I went had 100 plus) had the less optioned ones.
imo the GS was designed to meet a need that wasn't there-time is on your side. to repeat what others have said:check the big forum dealers.
imo 82K for a GS is a joke

When you use "Why?" as the sum total of your title, that's clickbait. Why what? Why can't you be more informative about what the hell your issue is? You have to click to see. Doing that to us is the very definition of clickbait. Also, ordering the car with what you want does not result in a higher price. ANY of the forum dealers offer a hefty discount for ordered vehicles. Wondering why dealers have the cars they do is an exercise in futility. Because they think those cars so optioned will sell, of course. This is why, for example, most in-stock cars have black interiors. Black won't offend or put off any customers. Most will be satisfied with black. If you must have Kalahari, order it. When I put in my order Macmulkin was offering 12% on ordered cars and 13% on in stock cars. Surely you are not going to quibble over 1%! That's your trade-off. Get a slightly better "deal" on an in stock car that doesn't have QUITE what you want, or order it at a SLIGHTY higher price and get exactly what you want.

Contact Nate or Matt at Van Bortel and see what they can do for you.
My apologies for offending you. Although it is your choice to read. There was a valid intent behind it. I appreciate the helpful replies though. I am keeping my eyes on the forum dealers. It seems to me that ordering a cars indicates to a dealer you are planning on paying msrp, thus the costing more. I refuse to pay msrp or adm.

Why is it dealers throw all kinds of stuff into a GS? Where are the 2LT's w/wo A8? Nothing more, nothing less.
That's pretty normal for most cars that offer lots of options. Remember the dealer has to try and order a car that will appeal to buyers and that means making sure the car is optioned right or it will sit on the lot.
If you look at other performance cars out there from companies like BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc you will see similar packaging/options.
The high volume dealers like MacMulkin, Kerbeck, etc will sometimes order a few 1LT/2LT cars with little frills, but those are pretty rare.
It's a tough one especially for the smaller volume dealers. For every person who doesn't want NAV/PDR there are those that have to have it.

We are trying to get through to you and past your assumptions. Ordering a car DOES NOT INDICATE that you are "willing to pay msrp." I ordered my car to my specs and got 12% off with no admin or doc fees. I decided that was enough for me and that spending hours more trying to find another 1-2% off was not worth it. Some people here have gotten greater discounts on ordered cars than that. If you "refuse to pay msrp" then there is an extremely easy, no-sweat, painless way to do that. Contact a forum dealer. Problem solved. No reason to keep bringing that point up. It's solved. If you want an even better deal, THEN you can bring timing and incentives into play and try to guess when the very best deals are to be had. That's kind of like playing the stock market, but some people have a great and fun time doing it.
