Ok, for sure I'm putting this question in the wrong section (I'm New) but here it goes anyway.
I plan on purchasing a Vet site unseen and have it trucked to me.
This is the first time I have done something like this.
Most likely I will be getting a Certified car or one with remaining factory warranty so it will be off a Dealers lot.
Ok, so much for the explaination.
The question is, ok, so I agree to buy a car from a dealer.
1.What's the safe way I send the dealer the money (full payment, no financing).
2.How do I rest assured that I get the car and they don't just keep the money and not send the car?
3.How do I know I will receive a Clear title?

I'm going to move this over to C7 General since the members over there probably have the most current experience with long distance purchases. Good luck in your search for just the right car.

Certified check from your bank. Cheaper than wiring. Then fed ex or registered mail with return receipt.

Buy from a forum dealer. They all have good reputations. Also, use the shipper they recommend. DO NOT SCRIMP on shipping costs. There are a lot of shippers out there who don't know how to treat a car especially a vette. Stay away from shipping brokers.
Who's bought long distance sight unseen?
What was the process?
I'm in OREGON and just had a new one delivered from Illinois last week with only seeing pics. As long as you have a warranty I wouldn't worry. Sent a certified check priority mail. They sent documents FEDEX overnight. Signed and returned. Waited for check to clear and they released car to carrier that I scheduled. A very easy process.

I just purchased my 2017 GS a month ago from Mike Furman (Criswell Chev.) They publish the price on the internet. That is what I paid. Mike took the car off of the web page as soon as I said I would like to purchase it. He also notified his shipper. The car was shipped within a week of them receiving my check and it arrived in Utah 3 days after it left Maryland. Mike kept me informed all of the way, and answered every email. The shipper that they use was top notch. The whole process was very smooth. No regrets.

I purchased a 2016 Z06 CZ.R a month ago, sight unseen from Orlando, Fl.
They should prepare a bill of sale, have it signed by them and sent to you. You sign the bill of sale and send it back with your check. (Keep a copy) now you have a legitimate, executed bill of sale.
if you have good credit, you can find financing near 2-2.5% for 65 months. Any current liens on the vehicle will be paid off with your purchase and you will be issued a clean title, assuming the car is there on consignment. If dealer inventory, no worries. If your buying from a dealer, you are pretty safe.

Mind if I ask what shipping cost was? Im also thinking about shipping a similar distance.
^^^Agree...I personally would never buy a car sight unseen. Even if it was a new one unless it was someone that has an excellent reputation like Furman, Conti, or someone that I've done prior business with and trust. I say this because even with a new one there is still the possibility that someone at the dealership could have damaged it and the dealer body shop made a repair that could be noticed. Things like the paint not matching, sand scratches in the paint, gap alignment between panels, etc...Once the deal is done, it's a lot more difficult to get your money back/return the car. If you inspect first, it is still very easy to walk away from a disappointing car. Perhaps, you could share where the car is and potentially find someone on here to go look at it for you.

I've seen on eBay that company *We Go Look*. They don't promise much. I'm still about a month or two out from pulling the trigger. But when I'm ready I'll stop by here before I go to We Go Look and see if there is somebody close by that would be willing to go look at a car for me. I'd rather pay someone who specifically knows Corvettes.
And yeah, I would usually Never purchase a vehicle sight unseen but my damn health just won't let me travel...bummer!
Thanks Everybody!

There are just under 3,000 Chev dealers in the US. However, if you really want to roll the dice, go to any one of them and buy a car to ship to you. If you want a much, much higher degree of certainty, follow the advice above re dealers, documents, and especially on shipping carriers. You play around and try to save a few hundred or even a grand on shipping and the chances are pretty good you will pay a price.

Sorry to hear of your health issues. Lots of good people here to help. If you see one in the Cincinnati area, I'd be happy to look at it for you.
Hello loose Screw and welcome to the forum. Here you will find a lot of people with a lot of great advice and knowledge and well some not so much. I just recently purchased from a dealer in NC and all went well. The dealer sent me approximately 50 or so pictures and also a picture of the vin #.
I too was a little hesitant but it all worked out well. As an earlier poster stated once you find what your looking for contact the dealer and they will send you all the forms you will need to complete the deal. A couple things I would specifically ask for if used is a carfax report and a historical maintenance report. Also, like you said I would only get a certified preowned if previously owed.
Ask the dealer for a recommended shipper, they ship all the time. I personally paid extra for a covered hauler. I purchased one several years ago and it was dirty from being rained on and some other issues that I didn't see in the pictures that the dealer had sent me. One other thing if receiving it from a shipper is make sure its delivered in the daytime so you can do a better inspection and check everything out in better light.
Good Luck and enjoy your new ride. Your gonna love it. Hope your better soon.

Ive just had my first corvette purchase and got in in another state. It is a brand new grand sport and when it was delivered had damage on it. Had to get a lawyer for this car deal. If its used I wouldn't ever buy site unseen. If you buy new from one of the forum dealers I can see buying it without seeing it in person. Other then that I wouldn't trust anyone saying its perfect....
Yeah, it'll definitely be a used one. So if I find a car out of town and everything checks out and I find a hauler, I talk to the sales person at the GM dealership make the deal and send the dealership a cashiers check for 40-50 grand and hope the dealership sends the car and title to me?

I bought my 2014 last year from a Chevrolet dealer 1800 miles away from me (NY to TX). In addition to photos, a Car Fax, and a Certified Pre-Owned designation/warranty, I had another Forum member volunteer to go inspect it for me. His inspection verified what the dealer said and the photos showed - an immaculate, great running car.
I already had financing approved by my credit union. I gave a credit card deposit to hold the car, and my credit union wired the money after we had each signed the associated paperwork via overnight mail. A few weeks later, I flew to NY to pick up the car and drove it home to Texas. The dealer even promised me (in writing) to cancel the deal, if I wasn't pleased when I saw the car in person. Once I saw the car and was happy, we completed the title transfer and temporary license plate, and I was on my way.
I had never done a long distance vehicle transaction before, but everything went very smooth. If you follow the recommendations here, there's no reason to avoid it.
